The wait is over, y’all! Hallmark Channel kicks off the second season of “The Chicken Sisters” on August 10, 2025, at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
The sweet and spicy drama’s first season premiered exclusively on Hallmark+ in the fall of 2024. Once it was renewed for a second season, the full first season aired on Hallmark Channel in the spring of 2025 and remains available to stream on Hallmark+. Here’s everything you need to know about the series!
How to Catch Up on Season 1 of ‘The Chicken Sisters’
The first season of “The Chicken Sisters,” now streaming on Hallmark+, was based on a novel of the same name by K.J. Dell’Antonia. The storyline centered around a “generations-old feud” between two family-run chicken restaurants that had divided the small town of Merinac for years.
The drama only escalated when the crew of reality TV show “Ultimate Kitchen Clash” arrived to pit the restaurants against each other, with surprising results for everyone involved — including a chance to create something even better together.
The entire first season is available to stream on Hallmark+, and the first full episode of the series is also available to watch for free via YouTube. But Hallmark also created a 90-second recap (above) for those who just want to dive right into the second season.
‘The Chicken Sisters’ Season 2 Will Include Some New Faces
Season 2 of “The Chicken Sisters” will feature lots of new beginnings for the women of Merinac, the fictional small, southern town where the series is set. The star-studded cast — led by by Lea Thompson (Nancy), Wendie Malick (Gus), Schuyler Fisk (Amanda), and Genevieve Angelson (Mae) — returns and some new faces will saunter into town, too.
Among them is David James Elliott, best known for the decade he spent, from 1995 to 2005, starring on “JAG” opposite another Hallmark star, Catherine Bell. Elliott, 64, will play a man from Gus’ past who returns to the fictional town, according to Deadline.
Elliott joins a handful of Hallmark hunks who are part of the cast, including “Ruby Herring Mysteries” alum James Kot, who plays Amanda’s ex-husband and new restaurant rival Frank Jr. Ektor Rivera, who co-starred with Lacey Chabert in 2022’s “Groundswell,” also returns as Sergio, who joined Mimi’s restaurant as a new chef and wound up cooking up a romance with Amanda.
Press photos for season 2 also reveal longtime Hallmark star Rhiannon Fish will make an appearance midway through the season, though it’s not clear what role she plays.
“The Chicken Sisters” also has a new showrunner — season one screenwriter Erin Gibson — who was tasked with taking the show “beyond the pages of the book” in season two, per Hallmark press materials. Thompson directed the first two episodes and told EntertainmentNow that she’s proud of the “genuine and intimate” stories they tell throughout the season.
