Hallmark Alum Reveals Her Strategy for Protecting Her Kids in Hollywood

A Hallmark alum opened up about protecting her children while attending the BET Awards. Tia Mowry, who starred in the Hallmark movie “A Gingerbread Romance,” has two children with her ex-husband Cory Hardrict. She revealed her approach to protecting her kids from the “craziness” of Hollywood.

Tia Mowry Wants Her Kids to Stay True to Who They Are

Mowry chatted with Entertainment Tonight while walking the red carpet for the BET Awards. She noted that her son, Cree, is turning 14 soon. Her daughter, Cairo, recently celebrated her 7th birthday.

She told Entertainment Tonight that her kids are “amazing” and “so wonderful.” Mowry even suggested that Cairo may eventually become the president, noting how independent and smart she is.

When asked how she protects her kids in Hollywood, having experienced growing up in show business, Mowry was confident in her approach.

“I think it’s all about just staying true to who you are,” Mowry said.

She continued, “You know, trends, they come and go. I’ve never been that type of person to hop on a trend. I’ve always been myself, you know.”

Given that, Mowry added, “I think just walking in truth, in authenticity has been really, really important.”

That is what she hopes to see her children do in the coming years as well. Mowry noted, “I definitely want that for my children, you know, and I celebrate them. I celebrate their independence.”

“SHE’S A FANTASTIC MOTHER, 🙏🏽👑🤍🫡” declared one of Mowry’s supporters after hearing her response.

The Hallmark Alum Credits Her Parents for Valuing Integrity in Their Children

In April 2021, Mowry talked with “Windy City LIVE” about how her parents kept the family from succumbing to the darker side of growing up in Hollywood. What she said on the red carpet at the BET Awards echoed what she said in the prior interview.

She joked that one big factor in avoiding trouble growing up in Hollywood was that her parents were in the military, suggesting that was enough to keep Mowry and her siblings in line.

On a more serious note, Mowry then shared what was important to her parents. “Our character, our integrity, how are we treating other people, who we are as people. So, they really instilled those values within all of their children at such a young age.”

She admitted, “Yes, Hollywood is great, it’s grand, and it’s wonderful, and they celebrate our successes, but what’s more important is how we are as people.”
