To her shock, Sugarplum (Parrish), the film’s relentlessly optimistic main character, magically steps off the screen to make Emily’s wish come true — whether she’s ready for it or not”
“Leah’s Perfect Gift” – Sunday, December 8 at 8 p.m. Eastern

Hallmark Mystery Premiere This Week
This week, the Hallmark Mystery Channel has one new premiere that you won’t want to miss.
“A Dance in the Snow” – Thursday, December 5 at 8 p.m. Eastern
Erica Cerra, Mark Ghanime, Vanessa Burghardt and Dorian Giordano bring this new movie to life. Burghardt, who plays a neurodiverse teen in the Hallmark movie, is on the autism spectrum herself. Her breakout role was playing a teen on the spectrum in the movie “Cha Cha Real Smooth” for AppleTV+.
She told Variety that there were aspects of her character Lola in “Cha Cha Real Smooth” that she could relate to.
“There’s one thing I talked about [as Lola], that I like the company of an empty room,” she said. “That I get drained socially. I really relate to that. I love socializing with people, but it is a lot when you feel like you need to pick up on things that I don’t, naturally.”
She said that since starring in the movie, more opportunities were opening up for her and she was getting more chances to audition for roles. And now, two years later, her Hallmark movie is debuting.
Hallmark’s synopsis for the movie notes: “Melanie’s 17-year-old autistic daughter Jenny is a senior in high school and looking forward to college. After a bad experience her junior year, Jenny is not interested in attending her final Christmas dance before graduating. Melanie decides to surprise Jenny by getting involved in the school’s planning committee to create a welcoming dance for all students. Meanwhile, Jenny and her friends secretly plan their own party, in part to honor Melanie.”
