When Rachael Leigh Cook’s newest Hallmark Channel movie, “Sisterhood Inc.,” premieres on February 8, 2025, it will be a case of art imitating life.
Since signing a deal with Fox’s MarVista Entertainment in early 2023, Cook has developed and starred in multiple movies inspired by her own life experiences, from filming 2024’s “Rescuing Christmas” in her home state of Minnesota to basing her upcoming feature film, “There She Goes” on her life as a 90s rom-com star, per Deadline.
On January 20, Cook revealed via Instagram that the premise of “Sisterhood, Inc.” was inspired by another real-life experience: a run-in with an old friend she had at a small get-together “about a month out of CovidTimes.”
Cook recalled, “I asked her the most banal question AKA, ‘how have you been?!’ Luckily, she’s more clever than I, and said, ‘Not good. In fact, on the way over here, I decided that I should outsource all my life decisions to a committee of strangers.'”
They both laughed and Cook joked she’d try that too, she told her Instagram followers, but added that she then started to realize it might make a great premise for a movie.
Rachael Leigh Cook Says She’s Always Been Interested in ‘Hivemind Intelligence’
According to Hallmark’s synopsis of “Sisterhood, Inc.,” Cook will play corporate executive Megan, who creates a board of directors to oversee and improve her younger sister’s chaotic life, and winds up falling for a psych professor who cracks her tough demeanor.
In her Instagram post, Cook said she loved exploring the idea of having a group of people help manage a person’s life, explaining, “I’ve always been really fascinated by the brilliance of hivemind intelligence.” As examples, Cook noted, “it’s been found that the average of many guesses can reliably tell the number of jellybeans in a jar, the weight of a cow etc.”
The same night Cook’s old friend uttered that comment to her, the idea for a movie was born, she wrote, sharing that “later in the evening I told my friend, ‘I know some excellent writers (aka ride or dies @lizhackettwriter & @hgalanoy ) who could reverse engineer parts of your notion into a really fun movie, if that would be okay?'”
“It was,” Cook continued. “They did. @marvistaent and HallmarkChannel got it. And here we are! Well not YET, February 8th on the one and only @HallmarkChannel with a STELLAR cast you’ll love(!)”
‘Sisterhood, Inc.’ Will Be a ‘Different’ Kind of Movie For Hallmark, Rachael Leigh Cook Says

In her post, Cook pointed out that “Sisterhood, Inc.” may like a “different” kind of movie for Hallmark, but she’s hoping fans will still love it.
“Different from a traditional romcom in focus, this movie is a Sisters Story I like to describe as an old school concept comedy,” she wrote.
“It’s about the precarious bonds of family,” Cook continued. “The importance of leaving your bubble. Tinfoil swans, saying too much and doing shots with your mom. You know, the good stuff.”
Cook’s co-star, Leonidas Gulaptis, also weighed in on her post, showering her with compliments by commenting, “You are the best. So talented, funny, kind and incredible in this ❤️”
Cook responded, “Thank you my friend, that means a lot. Truly. You’re GREAT in the movie; ease/charm and timing for days. You’ll have a forever home in romcoms, and we were lucky to have You 💗”
“Sisterhood, Inc.,” premieres on Hallmark Channel on February 8 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. It will also be available to stream the next day on Hallmark+.
