For the second weekend in a row, actress Rachael Leigh Cook has canceled scheduled appearances at a highly-anticipated fan convention — and the Hallmark star is not happy about it.
On December 11, 2024, Cook wrote on Instagram that she was feeling “much better,” but would not be able to attend Christmas Con, a popular fan convention in New Jersey for Christmas movie lovers. The 2024 convention takes place December 13 – 15.
After missing her appearances at GalaxyCon the week prior due to illness, Cook revealed that she’d since been diagnosed with pneumonia. Writing that she is “so mad” about missing another fan event, Cook said that her doctor insisted she stay home again rather than join fellow Hallmark stars including Tyler Hynes, Lacey Chabert, and Nikki DeLoach at Christmas Con.

Cook began her announcement by writing that she was “really, really not happy about this.”
“Feeling MUCH better,” she continued, “but bc what I had turned out to be pneumonia (I KNOW) I’m still not cleared by my Dr to travel and do ChristmasCon in NJ and this makes me SO mad!!!
“I have been SO looking forward to that and meeting you all,” Cook wrote. “Was hoping for a Christmas Miracle, but my voice is still gone so apparently I could do lasting damage if I try to talk more. Congratultions to whoever poked their voodoo doll of me in the neck, it’s definitely working, but I will not be defeated!!”
Fans and friends flooded Cook’s Instagram feed with well wishes and notes of disappointment about not getting to see her.
“Young and the Restless” actress Melissa Claire Egan, who starred in Hallmark’s 2019 Christmas movie “Holiday for Heroes,” wrote, “Sad to miss you😢” and Cook replied, “you too Missy!! Give em Christmas.❤️✨”
One of the many fans to wish Cook well wrote, “There will be more ChristmasCons in the future, just focus on your health and healing. Get well soon”
Cook’s good friend Ben Feldman, who co-starred with her in Netflix’s “A Tourist’s Guide to Love,” joked, “Uggggh can you at least recommend something for my entire family and I to do in New Jersey now that our whole weekend is shot?”
He wrote the exact same thing the week before — minus the location — when Cook had to cancel her GalaxyCon appearances in Columbus, Ohio.
