Hallmark star Nikki DeLoach has become a network staple since starring in the 2015 movie “Christmas Land” with Luke Macfarlane. Recently, she told the sweet story of how she ended up doing that movie, and fans have her grandmother to thank.
Nikki DeLoach’s Grandmother Asked Her to Consider Projects Like Hallmark Movies
DeLoach shared the story with “Lifestyle with Roy Ice.” A clip of the video was shared on the show’s Instagram page on December 23.
She shared, “When I first started at Hallmark, I was on a show called ‘Awkward.’ And it wasn’t exactly a show that my grandmother could tell her friends about.”
“My grandmother called me one day and said, ‘I just want you to do one of those, just, good Hallmark movies,'” DeLoach recalled.
DeLoach admitted she “Will do anything that my grandmother tells me to do.” Because of that, she reached out to her agent to see if Hallmark might be interested in working with her.
DeLoach revealed that call landed her a role in her first Hallmark Christmas movie.
In November, DeLoach told Woman’s World she hadn’t even been familiar with Hallmark’s programming at the time of her grandmother’s request.
“The next thing I knew, I was in Utah doing my first Christmas movie… It was the fastest turnaround I think I’ve ever had in a movie,” she shared.
The Hallmark Star’s Hometown Went Wild Over the Movie
When the film was ready to air, DeLoach was visiting loved ones in her hometown of Blackshear, Georgia. She shared during her “Lifestyle with Roy Ice” appearance that the movie was the last Christmas movie of Hallmark’s to air that season.
DeLoach joked, “You know you’re onto something when the pastor in the church, in the Christmas Eve service, is like, ‘We got to go home cause Nikki’s in a Hallmark movie.'”
She noted she had been acting for years, and her community had always been supportive of her. However, she admitted, “I’ve never received this level of excitement from my hometown people who’ve been so loving and supportive my entire life.”
Fans loved DeLoach’s story about how she ended up on Hallmark.
One fan commented, “Obviously, your Grandmother had a great deal of wisdom!!! We love your Hallmark movies!”
“So glad you listened to your grandmother. You are Hallmark. When people think of hallmark you are one of the first we all think of. Thanks for being so great at what you do and for being such a wonderful person inside and out,” wrote another fan.
“You are a gem and we are lucky you share your talent and kindness with us. I hope you know you are loved and appreciated,” shared someone else.
