Melissa Peterman’s Adorable Reaction to Her Huge Career News

We’re making it unofficially official: Hallmark fan-favorite Melissa Peterman has, hands down, the best reactions to good news. Dare you not to smile!

On February 20, 2025, Peterman appeared in a video posted by NBC as the cast of her sitcom with country superstar Reba McEntire, “Happy’s Place,” was renewed for a second season. Peterman’s adorable reaction was just as sweet and genuine as her tearful May 2024 response to the series getting picked up for its first season.

It’s been a very newsworthy few weeks for Peterman, who’s learned that two of her three series have been renewed for 2025.

Melissa Peterman & Reba McEntire Cry ‘Tears of Joy’ Over Sitcom’s Renewal

In the video posted by NBC, McEntire walked into a backstage room where the cast was gathered in a circle, holding hands. When she told them, “We got picked up for a second season,” Peterman’s jaw immediately dropped as her castmates processed the news.

In subsequent clips, Peterman could be seen clapping, crying, hugging fellow cast members including McEntire, and exclaiming, “Oh my God!” She was later captured excitedly jumping up and down with a huge smile.

After the stars huddled up and put their hands together for a cheer — “1-2-3 let’s have more fun!” –Peterman hilariously shouted, “That wasn’t as good as I thought but I still liked it!”

McEntire was just as thrilled, revealing that she was crying “tears of joy” over the show renewal, which allowed her to reunite onscreen with Peterman, who was also on her previous sitcom, “Reba,” which ran from 2001 – 2007 and now airs in reruns on Hallmark Channel. The two shared a touching hug in NBC’s video as the cast celebrated around them.

This is the second series renewal in less than two months for Peterman. During the 2024 holiday season, she co-hosted Hallmark’s first-ever competition series, “Finding Mr. Christmas,” with show co-creator Jonathan Bennett. Hallmark announced on December 23 that the series had been picked up for a second season.

Though Hallmark hasn’t officially confirmed whether Peterman will be back for season two, her insights and comedic timing were highlights for many fans of the show.

Producers are currently collecting submissions from men interested in competing on the second season, which is expected to start filming in April, per casting materials.

Meanwhile, the game show Peterman has hosted since 2023 — “Person, Place, or Thing” — was canceled by Fox Television Stations, Forbes reported on January 29. The outlet said her game show’s cancelation was part of a cost-cutting move that also included ending the long-running entertainment show “Dish Nation” and Jerry O’Connell’s game show, “Pictionary.”
