After what she described as an “insane” year, longtime Hallmark Channel star Meghan Ory marked a major milestone. On May 10, 2025, the “Chesapeake Shores” alum revealed on Instagram that “for the first time ever,” she was leaving her husband, fellow actor and 2024 Hallmark co-star John Reardon, and their three kids at home in Nova Scotia to go film a movie.
“After the most intense and insane year of life,” she wrote, “I’m heading off to do a movie, away from home for the first time ever.”
Although many Hallmark actresses jet off for weeks at a time to film movies and shows for the network, Ory’s departure is particularly significant given the roller coaster she and Reardon have been on since his 2024 tonsil cancer diagnosis. Many of her Hallmark colleagues and fans cheered her on as she was able to jet off to her new project before Mother’s Day.
Meghan Ory Thanks John Reardon for Supporting Her ‘After Everything He’s Been Through’
Ory, who co-starred with Reardon in 2024’s “Believe in Christmas,” expressed how thankful she was for his willingness to steer the ship at home while she’s away filming.
She wrote, “Feeling SO grateful to my amazing partner, in every sense of the word—@johnny_reardon_ Holding down the fort. Solo parenting while the kids miss mommy. And again, after everything he’s been through, he is cheering me on. Supporting me. Supporting the family. Full of love. Thank you so much. Love you.”
Reardon revealed on Christmas Eve 2024 that he’d spent part of the year battling tonsil cancer with his wife by his side. The “Hudson and Rex” star told fans on Instagram it was his first night out in a long time, sharing a new photo of him looking healthy and another of him in the midst of his arduous cancer treatment.
Over 8,000 fans and friends liked Ory’s post including Hallmark stars Andrew Walker, Brendan Penny, Stephen Huszar, Jessy Schram and Robert Buckley.
Many shared their support in the comments, too, including one who wrote, “Such a wonderful positive post. You guys are great partners, considering what you’ve been through recently and I love to see people who work hard have great successes …18 gold stars for you two”
Another wrote, “Couple goals!!!🔥❤️ Both beautiful inside and outside ☺️ Best of luck on the new project”
Multiple fans asked Ory in the comments if Ory was heading to shoot a Hallmark movie. Although she didn’t specifically reply to their inquiries, the actress liked several of their comments, including one in which a fan wrote, “You have a good guy…. will this be a Hallmark movie?”
John Reardon Shared a Tribute to Wife Meghan Ory for Mother’s Day
With his wife of eight years away filming her movie, Reardon posted a sweet and funny tribute to Ory on Mother’s Day.
“Happy Mother’s Day to this beautiful woman,” he captioned a press photo of Ory. “You blow me away everyday with how much courage and grace you carry yourself with. You’re my hero. Ive also never seen someone so glamorous reach out to catch a poop from a 1 year old with a bare hand before it falls on the floor. Your reflexes are #catlike 🙂 You are truly the one and only. Thank you for everything you do. Love Love ❤️❤️❤️”
In the comment section, Ory replied, “😂 I will never forget that ever. Thank you for being the most amazing partner. Miss you guys. Love love love.”
Reardon and Ory have been busy renovating their century-old Canadian house after living in Los Angeles for 20 years. They’re filming their progress for a YouTube series called “I Play One on TV.”
