Meghan Ory’s Cryptic Post Sparks Rumors of ‘Chesapeake Shores’ Return

Hallmark star Meghan Ory’s cryptic Instagram post from August 16 is sparking rumors (and hopes) among fans of “Chesapeake Shores” that the beloved series might be returning in some form. Ory played Abby, one of the lead characters in the series.

Meghan Ory Posted That ‘Exciting News’ Is Coming Soon

In her August 16 post, Ory shared a series of photos from “Chesapeake Shores,” and started out her post by writing, “People! #chessies are back on @hallmarkplus.”

This by itself wasn’t surprising news, because the show has been on Hallmark’s streaming service for awhile now. When Hallmark Plus posted about the series on June 10 on Facebook, numerous fans replied that they hoped to see a reboot or revival someday.

But it was the second part of Ory’s post that got fans talking.

She wrote, “Stay tuned for more exciting news!! #chesapeakeshores All the feels.” Then she tagged her fellow cast members and ended her post with, “Who’s ready for a rewatch?!”

‘How Dare You Leave Us Hanging,’ One Fan Joked in Reply to Her Post

Now fans are beside themselves trying to guess what “exciting news” is coming soon about their favorite show.

“How dare you leave us hanging like is!! 😜 We’re all hoping it season 7! 🤞” one person replied.

Another person replied to the comment guessing, “maybe the promised special movie.”

There have long been rumors about a spinoff movie.

In an interview with Us Weekly in 2024, Stephen Huszar (who portrayed Luke on the show) revealed that the cast was already talking about ways to bring the show back after it was cancelled.

“That’s really up to the producers and Hallmark, of course,” he said. “But I think everyone would agree. We’d love to get back together, especially at that beautiful location where we shot on Vancouver Island.”

Even before the series was canceled, there were plans to create a spinoff movie about the three sisters’ traveling overseas for a wedding. In an interview with Super Channel, Daniel Paulson, executive producer, said he would be “happy to do holiday or specials for them.”

He added: “We talked about doing one last year, but COVID reared its ugly head. It was going to be a destination film where the three sisters would go somewhere, because they’re great together. We talked about Ireland since the family is from there and actually wrote a script. Every season we would do a different exotic location.”

When the series was canceled in 2022, Hallmark said they did so because they wanted the show to end on a “high note.”

Laci Mailey, who portrayed Jess on the show, replied to Ory’s cryptic post by simply resharing it on her account as an Instagram Story.

Treat Williams, Who Portrayed the Patriarch of the Show, Died in 2023

If the show does return in some fashion, it won’t be the same now that Treat Williams, who played the patriarch of the family Mick, has passed away.

In 2023, he died at the age of 71 in a motorcycle accident. The beloved star is deeply missed. In an interview with Us about a year later, Huszar said: “If I could turn back time and if Treat was with us, I would love to share the screen with that man again.”

Many of his co-stars share tributes to him on social media, speaking about how much they miss him.
