Lacey Chabert & Debbie Gibson Share Amazing Backstage Photo From 33 Years Ago

More than 30 years after first connecting as young performers on Broadway, Hallmark star Lacey Chabert and 80s pop icon Debbie Gibson sent love to each other on social media after a 1992 backstage photo of them resurfaced on July 22, 2025.

The Bygone Broadway Instagram account tagged both stars when it posted a throwback photo of them in costume, “backstage at LES MISÉRABLES at the Imperial Theatre.” Gibson, 54, and Chabert, 42, shared the photo in their Stories, sending each other love and thrilling their fans.

Debbie Gibson Says ‘I Still Love My Lacey’ of Former Co-Star Lacey Chabert

After the photo of Chabert and Gibson was posted, Gibson shared it in her Instagram Stories and wrote beneath it, “Awww! And I still love my Lacey! Who doesn’t?!? @thereallacey”

Chabert, who’s been filming the just-announced “She’s Making a List” with fellow Hallmark star Andrew Walker, shared Gibson’s post in her Stories and wrote, “Love you @debbiegibson”

Chabert, who would go on to star in the hit 90s TV show “Party of Five,” the iconic 2004 movie “Mean Girls,” and over 40 Hallmark movies, was just nine when she was cast as Young Cosette on Broadway while also serving as the understudy for the role of Gavroche, according to Broadway World.

Gibson, meanwhile, was 21 when she landed the part of Éponine Thénardier, according to a blog post she wrote about her audition. She had auditioned years before, at age 15, but it wasn’t until she was a huge pop star with hits like 1989’s “Lost In Your Eyes,” that she landed another audition and got the part.

Fans commented with love for both entertainers on the original post, including several who were part of the ensemble cast. One wrote, “I was in Les Miz with these two. Debbie gave the ensemble her cd’s for an opening night gift. Lacey was a sweetheart.”

Although Chabert has never tried to crossover into pop stardom, Gibson has been part of the Hallmark universe. She starred in 2016’s “Summer of Dreams” and its follow-up, 2018’s “Wedding of Dreams.”

In 2018, she told Entertainment Weekly, “The Hallmark audience is the same audience that grew up with me, and I think they’re enjoying watching me play me, essentially, and I’ve been enjoying it as well and incorporating music.”

At the time, she said she could see the two movies turning into a weekly series, “I think it could be a series. With the kids and the music and there not being a ‘Glee’ on the air anymore, there’s such an opportunity for a downhome, romantic story line with my character jetting off to do showbiz stuff and my kids making music. We could be putting out original music every week.”

While that hasn’t happened, Gibson has stayed very busy performing, recording new music, and writing a new book. “Eternally Electric: The Message in My Music” will be released in September.

“Writing my memoir during this profound second act has been nothing short of a dream,” she wrote on Instagram in February. “It is my way to celebrate the connection I have to all of you, my longtime audience. I hope you gain inspiration from how I’ve overcome challenges and I can’t wait to share this story of resiliency so we can all be at our most vital and vibrant !!!!”
