Hallmark star Kimberly Williams-Paisley and country singer Brad Paisley fell in love when they were both in the early days of their careers. Paisley recently opened up about how he knew she was “the one.”
Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s Breakout Acting Role Stuck With Brad Paisley
As People noted on April 10, Paisley taped a brief appearance for an episode of the current season of Fox’s “Farmer Wants a Wife.” Williams-Paisley is hosting the season.
Paisley spent a few moments talking to the guys, and he provided a revealing answer about when he really fell for his now wife. People shared a sneak peek of the episode where Paisley opened up about his wife.
One of the guys asked Paisley when he realized Williams-Paisley was “the one” for him. He replied, “Uh, when I saw ‘Father of the Bride’ in 1991.”
The 1991 hit movie starred Williams-Paisley in the role of Annie Banks. Diane Keaton and Steve Martin played her parents. Annie surprised her parents with a new fiancé, and the film followed the family through the wedding day.
Paisley and the guys all got a good chuckle out of that response.
The Couple Had a Whirlwind Romance
During an appearance on “The Meredith Vieira Show” in 2015, Williams-Paisley told the story of how she and Paisley first connected. She noted she was just 19 years old when she starred in the movie, which became her breakout role.
Williams-Paisley explained that Paisley watched “Father of the Bride” with his then-girlfriend. They split, and “Seven years later, he swears, it had never happened before, he woke up one day and decided he wanted to call me,” she shared.
“So I said, all right, cause I’m a sucker for someone who’s interested, and then we just started dating and pretty soon after that we were engaged.”
The Hallmark star noted that she and Paisley got engaged after dating for about eight months. They wed in 2003, about six months after getting engaged.
The couple later welcomed two sons. William Huckleberry Paisley arrived in 2007, and Jasper Warren Paisley was born in 2009.
According to CMT, Paisley explained that the couple’s first son was a nod to the Mark Twain character of Huckleberry Finn.
The choice was “a reference to a spirit of adventure I hope he embodies. I can see him now — out playing in the woods, taking chances. Sorta conjures up ideas of Mark Twain, you know,” Paisley explained.
The pair’s second son was named after Paisley’s grandfather, who gave the country crooner his first guitar during his younger years.
In the preview for “Farmer Wants a Wife,” Paisley also told the guys that he thought the ladies coming from “bigger cities” might present them with a great opportunity.
“I think it’s a better match sometimes,” to match a country guy with a city gal. Paisley would certainly know.
“When vicariously, you’ll get to fall in love with the country again, through them,” Paisley suggested.
