Jonathan Bennett Cries Laughing Through ‘Ruthless’ Roast of His Acting Career

Longtime Hallmark star Jonathan Bennett just proved he can take a joke — or a dozen — at his expense. The “Mean Girls” alum and his husband, singer-songwriter Jaymes Vaughan, posted a hilarious social media video on February 16, 2025, in which the actor sat through an AI-created roast of his acting career.

Vaughan, who married Bennett in March 2022, verbally instructed ChatGPT to “write a comedy roast of actor Jonathan Bennett and be very mean,” to which Bennett, smirking and laughing, asked, “Why are we doing this?”

Captioning the post, Vaughan wrote, “Can’t blame me. I didn’t write it. I just read it.”

Jonathan Bennett Jokes That ChatGPT Roast is ‘So Rude’ Through Tears of Laughter

Noting how quickly the app whipped up a roast of his husband, Vaughan read the first insult aloud with a smirk.

“Oh, Jonathan Bennett,” he began as Bennett immediately began laughing. “Hollywood’s answer to ‘Do we have a budget for a real leading man? No. Okay, call him.'”

As Bennett gathered his composure, Vaughan continued, “You had your big break as Aaron Samuels in ‘Mean Girls,’ a movie so iconic that people still quote it to this day. But somehow, not your lines.”

Bennett burst out laughing again, and Vaughan kept going, reading more swipes at the “Finding Mr. Christmas” host’s career, claiming he “peaked 20 years ago” and comparing him to a “washed-up” high school football player always trying to relive his glory days. Bennett clapped and laughed hysterically throughout, but stopped at one point and exclaimed, “That’s so rude!”

Next, when Vaughan read that ChatGPT had called Bennett “the Hollywood version of an outdated iphone,” the actor gasped, but then crumpled into laughter when his husband continued, “Sure, you technically still work but nobody’s exactly excited to use you.”

The next insult Vaughan read said, “Every time you pop up in a Hallmark movie, America collectively shrugs and says, ‘Oh, him again?'” Before Bennett was done laughing at that, Vaughan read off another quip about his status as a Hallmark hunk.

“You’re like the human version of a pumpkin spice latte,” he read, as Bennett began crying because he was laughing to hard. “Pleasant, seasonal, and entirely forgettable by January.”

“And let’s not forget about you hosting ‘Cake Wars,'” Vaughn read about one of Bennett’s Food Network shows, “because nothing says ‘thriving Hollywood career’ like standing next to cupcakes!”

Within minutes of uploading the AI-inspired roast to Instagram, Bennett’s famous friends and fans flooded the comment section of the post with reactions.

George Krissa, his co-star in Hallmark’s “The Holiday Sitter” in 2023, wrote, “OMG HAAAHAHAHAAA 🤣🤣 Ruthless!!!”

Bennett’s good friend, Hallmark star Rachel Boston, chimed in, “You’re the best pumpkin spice latte!!!!!!!”

Many fans commented about how hilarious the tongue-in-cheek insults were, with one declaring they were “deceased” and another who wrote, “OMG I am gasping for air😂😂😂😂😂”

Others jokingly called out Vaughan for asking ChatGPT to “be mean,” but Bennett got back at his husband for initiating the roast in the comment section.

“I’d roast you back,” he quipped, “but ChatGPT probably doesn’t know who you are”
