How to Binge The ‘Hannah Swensen’ Series

A new “Hannah Swensen Mystery” is coming… hopefully. According to a TheCinemaholic report from last year, Hallmark gave the go-ahead for “A Pie to Die For,” which was released this summer, but we haven’t heard of another project just yet.

Before another movie is announced (fingers crossed), it’s the perfect time to catch up on the whole series. From the OG “Murder, She Baked” movies to the newest sequels, watching them in order makes it all better. Suddenly all the small-town drama, bakery chaos, and romantic sparks actually make sense.

Trust me, it hits differently when you know the backstory.

Start With the Original Films

The series is based on Joanne Fluke’s popular Hannah Swensen mystery novels, and Hallmark adapted them into five cozy mystery movies under the “Murder, She Baked” title. This is where it all begins: Hannah, her bakery, her family, and the ongoing “Mike or Norman?” love saga. Skip these, and the newer films are like trying to follow a recipe with half the ingredients missing.

Here’s the correct viewing order:

  • “Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery” (2015)
  • “Murder, She Baked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” (2015)
  • “Murder, She Baked: A Peach Cobbler Mystery” (2016)
  • “Murder, She Baked: A Deadly Recipe” (2016)
  • “Murder, She Baked: Just Desserts” (2017)

Start here and you’ll catch all the subtle jokes, recurring characters, and the little sparks between Hannah and her love interests (yes, interests… plural).

Keep Going With the Hannah Swensen Mysteries

After a four-year break, Hallmark revived the franchise under the “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” banner, continuing right where “Just Desserts” left off.

Here’s how to watch after the originals:

  • “Sweet Revenge: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” (2021)
  • “Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” (2023)
  • “A Zest for Death: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” (2023)
  • “One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” (2024)
  • “Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” (2025)
  • “A Pie to Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” (2025)

By following this order, suddenly all the jokes, drama, and Norman moments will come together into a complete picture.

And best of all… you’ll be fully ready for the next movie.

Where to Watch Them All

Whether you’re here for the cozy mysteries, the baking, or just to see if Norman finally gets his moment, now’s the perfect time to binge. With a new Hannah Swensen movie seemingly in-production, Hallmark+ (formerly Hallmark Movies Now) has you covered. All the movies live there, ready to stream in order, no hunting required. You can rent or buy on Amazon or Apple, but Hallmark+ makes it so easy; no pie-baking skills required.
