Donna Kelce is opening up about her son’s recent praise — and the surprising comparison he made between her and his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

In an exclusive interview with People on Aug. 12, Donna reflected on the compliment and the years of dedication it took to raise two NFL stars.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, recently told GQ that he sees “similarities” between the two women, citing their “kindness” and “work ethic” as standout qualities.

In his interview, Travis explained why his mom and Swift remind him of each other. “Their kindness, their genuineness, their ability to say hello to everyone in the room,” he said. “Their ability to show love and support no matter what. And on top of that, their work ethic.”

“I’ve seen Taylor do the exact same thing of setting goals for herself and exceeding the expectations and really captivating the world in that regard,” he added.

Speaking with People, Donna Kelce addressed the praise, saying, “You know, I think I’m relatable to a lot of moms that are out there. I mean, we’re doing everything. We’re cooking, we’re cleaning, we’re driving our kids places.”

The Hallmark star added, “It just seems like we’re running all around. We try to get help from the people that are at home, and sometimes we do and sometimes we don’t because they’re busy running out and doing their own thing, too.”

Travis credited both of his parents with giving him and his brother, Jason Kelce, 37, the foundation to pursue their dreams. He specifically pointed to his mother’s career in banking — a field she entered despite initially planning to work in radio or television.

“As a working mom, they see their mothers busy and working both at home and in the workplace — and so I think they saw that. They had to have seen it when they were growing up,” Donna said. “I tried to also be involved in the schools, too. It’s important, but you don’t always get to be there like a room mother all the time.”

Travis also revealed in GQ that he often saw his mom at work firsthand — especially after “getting kicked out of school for fighting” and tagging along to her office.

“It went from cubicles to a really nice office in the back, to all of a sudden the offices are getting bigger and bigger and now she’s got a name tag on her office,” he recalled. “I literally saw my mom go through it by being a little bad-ass kid.”

Looking back, it’s clear those early lessons in hard work, kindness, and perseverance left a lasting mark on the Chiefs star.
