Former Hallmark star Danica McKellar is showing her support for longtime friend Jonathan Bennett after the star opened up about his husband Jaymes Vaughan’s long battle with a rare health condition.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Hallmark star Jonathan revealed Vaughan recently underwent a life-changing procedure to treat a narrowed Schatzki ring. This condition made eating extremely difficult for most of his adult life.
Danica McKellar Extends Heartfelt Support
Celebrating the success of Vaughan’s procedure, McKellar wrote: “Wow! I had no idea you were going through that. I’m so happy for you! 🙏”
Bennett Celebrates Husband’s First Meal Without Fear
“This is the first time over the over 3,400 meals I’ve sat across from him where I didn’t feel like he was fighting for his life just to get through it,” Bennett wrote alongside a video of the couple enjoying dinner.
Bennett explained that Vaughan’s Schatzki ring, also known as a lower esophageal ring, caused narrowing near the bottom of his esophagus, making swallowing food nearly impossible and often leading to vomiting.
After undergoing a procedure to open his throat, Vaughan was finally able to eat without becoming ill.
How The Couple Is Raising Awareness for Others

According to the Mayo Clinic, a Schatzki ring can cause dysphagia, leading to difficulty swallowing, food getting stuck in the chest, and, in severe cases, regurgitation. Bennett said he shared their story to help others who may unknowingly be living with the same condition.
“Sharing this in case it could help someone who has this condition but didn’t know about it for 20 years, like my husband,” he wrote. “Talk to your doctor and ask questions; you never know how much it can help your life.”
Friends & Fans Celebrate the Good News

The post quickly drew supportive comments from friends and fans. McKellar wrote, “Wow! I had no idea you were going through that. I’m so happy for you! 🙏.”
Hallmark star Tyler Hynes left a bandaged heart emoji, while one fan wrote, “I’m so happy he can finally eat now and actually enjoy his food! ❤️.”
Another added, “Being a Surgical RN, I’m familiar with the condition and procedure. So happy for him that he can now enjoy a delicious meal without worry.”
Another comment on the post read: “Oh my goodness! “Is this what it’s like you eat? It just goes down?” You can hear the emotion in his questions. I can’t imagine what this is like for both of you to have this relief. 🙏🙏🙏😍😍😍”

Bennett’s heartfelt update is a reminder of the joy & relief that comes when health challenges finally give way to healing.
