‘Chicken Sisters’ Cast Adorably Celebrates Season 2 Premiere Date Together

As the cast of Hallmark Channel’s series “The Chicken Sisters” wraps production on the show’s second season in Vancouver, they’re celebrating that the new season will begin airing in a matter of weeks.

On June 26, 2025, Hallmark posted a social media video featuring cast members including Lea Thompson, Schuyler Fisk, Wendie Malick, Genevieve Angelson, Ektor Rivera, and James Kot — all adorably posing for pictures and reciting the premiere date of August 10.


New Season of ‘The Chicken Sisters’ Includes a New Cast Member

The first season of “The Chicken Sisters” originally premiered on Hallmark+ in the fall of 2024, and then made its Hallmark Channel premiere on March 30, just as the cast was returning to Vancouver to start filming the second season.

Hallmark didn’t announce the new season until a week later, on April 7, as well as a new cast member — former JAG star David James Elliott, who someone from Malick’s character’s (Gus) past who returns to the show’s fictional town of Merinac, Kansas.

Based on KJ Dell’Antonia’s popular book of the same name, the first season of “The Chicken Sisters” followed the drama between two fried chicken restaurants in the same small town, Mimi’s and Frannie’s, owned by separate families with complicated ties to each other, only complicated further by the arrival of a production crew for the reality TV show “Kitchen Clash.” In season two, according to Deadline, the women will try to put their “generations-long feud to rest.”

Hallmark Media’s SVP of programming Samantha DiPippo, told the outlet, “The episodes are funny, warm and full of heart. Our talented cast brilliantly brings the story to life and we can’t wait to welcome fans back to the colorful town of Merinac.”


Lea Thompson Directs First 2 Episodes of ‘The Chicken Sisters’ Second Season

Thompson has shared several social media photos and videos from the show’s set, gleefully sharing that she directed the first two episodes of the second season.

The “Back to the Future” alum captioned an April 27 Instagram post, “Just overjoyed that I get to direct the first and second episodes of @hallmarkchannel Second season of #thechickensisters what a wonderful family we have made. Be sure to watch tomorrow to catch up! I love the colorful cast of characters and our hardworking crew. #blessedwiththebest❤️”

In a video posted to her stories on June 27, she stood in a lush field and said, “Hi friends! Hope you’re having a good day! It’s a beautiful day here and I just wanted to say ‘The Chicken Sisters’ is premiering on August 10th and I directed the first two episodes! Lea Thompson! Hallmark Channel! August 10th! Chicken Sisters! Be there!”

And it’s such a beautiful day and it’s so crazy because right over there,” she said, pointing behind her, “is America! I’m in Canada, and there’s the border! Beautiful. We’re all humans.”

“The Chicken Sisters” season two premieres on Hallmark Channel on August 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern time and will be available to stream on Hallmark+ the next day.
