The father of a Hallmark star gave fans a fantastic nugget of information in the comment section of a recent social media post. Bethany Joy Lenz posted a video thanking the network for a birthday gift she received, and a fan asked a question that her dad caught and answered.
Bethany Joy Lenz Goes Her Middle Name With Some People
On April 23, Lenz shared a video on her Instagram page. In the caption, she wrote, “Thank you to my @hallmarkchannel family for thinking of me on my birthday earlier this month!”
Lenz shared with fans that she just got back to her home after doing quite a bit of traveling. She discovered a box sent to her by Hallmark that was a birthday gift. She noted she had not even opened it yet, but did so live on camera to share the goodies she received.
In the comment section of her post, one fan asked, “I’ve always wondered why you go by joy and not bethany? Both are beautiful but I’m curious.”
Robert Lenz, the Hallmark star’s father, provided the answer. He tagged the fan who asked the question and explained, “We never called her Bethany- Always was ‘Joy’! Bethany means house of God. So, Joy in the house of God,” he wrote.
One fan replied to his note with, “That’s beautiful.”
The Hallmark Star Has Reconnected With Her Parents
In October 2024, Lenz appeared on the podcast “I’ve Never Said This Before.” She talked about the decade she spent in a small religious group that she now refers to as a “cult.”
During the podcast, she talked about reconnecting with her parents after becoming estranged due to the cult. Lenz admitted, “I’m still scared of having vulnerable conversations with my parents.”
She added, “I don’t know if I’ve ever just flat-out said to my parents, ‘I’m sorry. For what I put you through in those ten years.’ I think we’ve danced around versions of that, but I don’t think I’ve ever just flat-out said that.”
The reference to what she put them through was tied to the cult she spent a decade prioritizing in her life.
Lenz also shared, “Mom, Dad, I’m really sorry for what I put you through for those ten years. It’s been a while out of it now, but… Thank you for sticking by me and for your patience and grace.”
After leaving the cult, Lenz admitted it was a challenge to figure out “what kind of relationship I wanted to have with [my parents] for the first time in adulthood because I just went from being a bratty teenager to isolation and being like, ‘You’re not even my family!'”
Luckily, her parents were more than happy to welcome her back.
