Legendary actress Andie MacDowell caused quite a stir at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, 2025, when she showed up on the red carpet in a black tuxedo with her iconic silver hair pulled back, posing animatedly as she strutted her stuff. The Hallmark Channel star confidently gave the peace sign, laughed, and even danced for photographers and fans outside the premiere of “Mission Impossible — The Final Reckoning.”

MacDowell, 67, turned heads with her bold look, which included sequined black heels. She stood out among other top actresses who appeared on the red carpet in full-length gowns, including Eva Longoria, who was photographed marveling at MacDowell’s look and stopping to chat with her.
Many fashion magazines quickly shared photos and videos of MacDowell, including Vogue Spain, which shared a video of passersby moving aside as the star strutted through the lobby of the five-star Martinez Hotel in Cannes.
The day before, MacDowell looked more like her “The Way Home” character, Del Landry, when photographers captured her casually dressed at her hotel, beaming with her signature loose curls and a denim shirt.
InStyle also captured her wearing a “casual-chic” outfit in France that consisted of a matching skirt and cropped trench coat set with a white poplin blouse underneath, black mule sandals, and a large black tote. The fashion outlet said MacDowell’s look ranked at the top of their “copy-worthy” fashions.

MacDowell told the outlet, “Some of my greatest joy is fashion. I love fashion, but I try to be conscious … and buy things that are gonna last and think about that.”
Qualley, she said, “encourages me to shop my closet” in order to ensure her wardrobe is not only fashion-forward but environmentally conscious. MacDowell described her daughter as “very minimalist” and “not a consumer” when it comes to fashion.
“A lot of times I feel really guilty,” MacDowell said of her willingness to buy new clothes rather than always wearing vintage like Qualley.
“Clothes do make me happy,” MacDowell added. “I do enjoy them very much.”
