As a leading actress and executive producer, Hallmark star Alison Sweeney is used to calling the shots in her professional life. But in a new sneak peek of FOX’s “LEGO Masters Jr.,” set to premiere on August 18, 2025, Sweeney laughs, “I haven’t been bossed around like this in a long time!”
According to a press release on the new series, Sweeney will be one of five celebrity assistants on the show, helping duos of young LEGO enthusiasts try to win the $50,000 grand prize.
Dramatic Competition Shows Alison Sweeney’s Young Teammates Close to Tears
In “LEGO Masters Jr.,” hosted by Kelly Osbourne, Sweeney is tasked with helping Pittsburgh brothers Ajay, 13, and Zak, 11, as they take on drama-filled building challenges. Celebrity assistants helping other kid teams are actor Ravi V. Patel, comedian Andy Richter, singer and “American Idol” alum Jordin Sparks, and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Williams.
A two-and-a-half-minute sneak peek released on July 25 shows Sweeney looking a bit overwhelmed as she carries containers full of LEGO bricks while Ajay and Zak both shout instructions and ideas. The preview also shows a high-stakes moment when a distressed Ajay says he’s “about to cry” because he’s so nervous about his brother moving a piece of their creation one week.
Despite the drama, Sweeney wrote in a July 7 Instagram post that she had a blast filming the show, writing, “Cannot tell you how much fun it was getting to help these brilliant LEGO brothers go after their dreams one LEGO brick at a time… 💪 I’m really a runner & assistant to these clever kids on the special event series, the challenges were so fun … I felt like a kid again!!”
Alison Sweeney Says She Wound Up ‘Mom-ing’ Her Junior Teammates When They Got ‘Feisty’
Based on the hit show “LEGO Masters,” the four-week junior version features kid contestants ages nine to 17. With an “unlimited supply” of LEGO bricks, the teams — two kids and one celebrity partner — are given “ambitious brick-building challenges” in each of the four episodes.
The judges include Amy Corbett, lead designer at LEGO who also appears on “LEGO Masters,” and Boone Langston, who won the first season of “LEGO Masters.”
“Both of my kids are super excited that I’m a part of the show,” Sweeney told Variety. “Ben is 20 now, but when he was younger, he had a massive Lego collection so he was particularly psyched for me to be on the show.”
“Megan is now 16,” Sweeney continued, “and she is very competitive, so she was pumping me up beforehand saying, ‘You got this, Mom!’ My kids laughed when I told them I was ‘mom-ing’ my teammates when they’d get feisty with each other.”
