Alicia Witt Recalls Kissing Madonna in Cut Scene

Alicia Witt is opening up about the time she acted alongside the one and only Madonna.

During a recent interview with The Irish Times, Witt shared a memory from her 1995 film “Four Rooms.” She revealed that during rehearsals, she kissed Madonna in a scene that was ultimately cut from the final version.

The then 20-year-old actress said she was heavily starstruck, especially since the singer had reportedly handpicked her for the role. According to Witt, Allison Anders, the director of the film’s segment, had presented Madonna with four actresses for the part. Luckily, Witt was the one selected. The film also featured high-profile actors such as Antonio Banderas, Quentin Tarantino, Marisa Tomei, and Tim Roth.

“There was a scene that got cut from the movie, because we didn’t end up having time to film it, where we kissed. So I did kiss Madonna in rehearsals. I learned also that she had chosen me,” she told the news outlet. “When she first arrived at the table read, she threw a bunch of presents at me. Very grand. She was, like, ‘Oh, hi.’ Like, ‘Oh my goodness, that’s my introduction.’”

A ‘Four Rooms’ Throwback

In November of last year, Witt shared several behind-the-scenes photos from the set of the film, showcasing her experience.

“Well, here’s a throwback I just found — with @madonna on the set of ‘Four Rooms’ 🙃🖤 I had the joy of reuniting with @lilittaylor at @spookyempire last weekend — and we even had one attendee who was a huge ‘Four Rooms’ fan!” she wrote in an Instagram post, alongside a picture of her and Madonna.

She continued, “Kiva was my name. This was in 1994. I bet she and Ruth in @longlegsfilm would’ve liked each other. Our segment of the four was directed by the wonderful @msallisonanders, featuring @tim_roth__ as the befuddled and horrified bellman who had to deal with the debauchery happening in each of these rooms at the same downtown Los Angeles hotel on New Year’s Eve.”

“…And what a cast! @marisatomei, @antoniobanderas, @ioneskyelee, Bruce Willis — and @thejenniferbeals — who surprised me by jumping up on stage behind me at the karaoke wrap party as I sang ‘Flashdance,’ pouring water over her head as she did the iconic dance…!!!!!”

She closed the post by writing, “Such memories,” as fans praised her in the comments for her performance, recalling the film’s impact on their lives.

A Hallmark Surprise on ‘The Masked Singer’

Witt remains a fan favorite for Hallmark viewers, known for starring in numerous Christmas films over the years. Although she hasn’t appeared with the network since 2020’s “Christmas Tree Lane,” she has kept busy with other projects, showcasing her diverse talent as a triple threat. In 2023, she competed in season nine of “The Masked Singer” as Dandelion, performing alongside Melissa Joan Hart.

A few of her other acting credits include “The Walking Dead,” “Supernatural,” “Friday Night Lights,” and “Orange Is the New Black.”

In 2021, Witt revealed that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. After a mastectomy, she happily announced in 2022 that she had officially been declared cancer-free.
