Fans and friends are rallying around Alexa and Carlos PenaVega one year after the couple lost their baby girl, Indy. The former Hallmark stars, who informed fans in April 2024 that Indy was “born at rest” after a “beautiful and peaceful delivery,” are now honoring their fourth child as a “world changer.”
On April 13, 2025, Alexa shared two social media posts with photos of Indy to mark her “heavenly birthday,” including one of the couple’s three children — sons Ocean, 9, and Kingston, 5, and daughter Rio, 3 — holding a photo of their baby sister taken in the hospital. To caption the photo, Alexa wrote, “Happy heavenly birthday Indy girl. 🤍Our little world changer. Psalm 34:18”
A second post featured a photo of Alexa crying at the hospital while holding Indy, bundled in a blanket.
“This was the most painful moment I have ever experienced,” she vulnerably shared. “I remember it feeling so hard to breathe. Such a deep aching pain… How was this real? It didn’t feel real. Every emotion flooded in at once.”

The PenaVegas have been vocal about how their faith has helped them heal over the last year, which Alexa reiterated in her second post on April 13, noting that “despite devastating loss, we felt so held… so covered… a super natural peace. It was all out of our control. We had to give it all over to God.”
“The burden was too heavy for us to carry,” she continued, “so He took the weight off of us and draped us in His peace. Over this last year we have watched LIFE come out of her life. We watched people heal because of Indy. We watched grief lifted because of Indy. We watched relationships be restored… God gave her life SO MUCH FRUIT … so much meaning and purpose.”
“Our sweet girl is celebrating with Jesus today,” Alexa wrote. “And While we still mourn and wish we had her in our arms… we know she is waiting for us in a place that is beyond anything we can imagine. Jeremiah 29:11”
Friends and fans flooded her posts with words of sympathy and praise, including Hallmark fan-favorite Tamera Mowry-Housley, who wrote, “You are such an inspiration. 🙏🏽”
Former “Twilight” actress Nikki Reed wrote, “Loving you and hugging all of you today and always❤️”
Hundreds of fans inspired by Alexa’s honesty and faith commented, too, including one who wrote, “The way you explain the praise from the pain is simply beautiful. What a blessed baby girl to have you two as parents & to be with her Heavenly Father on her birthday 🤍”
Carlos & Alexa PenaVega Announced They’d Left Hallmark in April 2024
Married since 2014, the PenaVegas announced in November 2023 that they were expecting their fourth child. Alexa faced multiple complications during her pregnancy, and was hospitalized for five days in mid-March. A month later, on April 15, the PenaVegas announced their baby had arrived stillborn.
“It has been a painful journey,” they wrote in a joint post at the time. “But in the pain we have found peace. God continues to comfort and hold us in his arms. The prayers from the community around us have been so sustaining in this difficult season. This little girl has already changed our lives in so many ways.”
The sad news came four days after the PenaVegas revealed they’d left Hallmark for a deal with Great American Family, a cable network started in 2021 by former Hallmark Channel president Bill Abbott.
The couple had spent years starring together in Hallmark movies, including their three-movie “Picture Perfect Mysteries” franchise. Their final joint project with the network was July 2023’s “Never Too Late to Celebrate,” but their movies are still part of Hallmark Channel’s regular rotation of original rom-coms. Alexa’s 2023 movie “A Paris Proposal” is scheduled to air on April 15 at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
