‘The Great Food Truck Race’ Live Recap & Spoilers – 8/17/2025

We have two new episodes of “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18 airing back-to-back tonight. The six remaining teams start by making their way to Myrtle Beach.

After a couple of days selling there, the remaining teams will then head to Wilmington, North Carolina, for the second episode. There is a $50,000 grand prize on the line, so see what host Tyler Florence has in store for these “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025 teams during our live recap.

Tensions Rise Tonight

With Nishaan surprising everyone with their two big wins during the first two weeks of this season, they may have a target on their back.

After picking the order of how the teams select their dishes for the first challenge this week, are we seeing a little tension between Nishaan and G’s Cheesesteaks?

Boardwalk Bites Challenge

The teams arrive in Myrtle Beach. G’s Cheesesteaks states they need to find a good place to sell this week, as that has been their challenge. Nishaan said they have a target on their back now. For this challenge, the teams have to innovate and elevate a famous Boardwalk dish. Nishaan got to pick first and then pick the order of how the other teams pick, which left G’s Cheesesteaks as the final team.

Tyler Florence will be judging the dishes. The team that makes the most marketable dish will get $100 added to their till. Whatever team that makes the most innovative dish will get $200 added to their till. The team that makes the most delicious dish will get $300 added to their till. That means $600 is on the line for this challenge.

The teams on “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18 will have two full days in Myrtle Beach to sell. Whoever has the least amount of sales will go home this episode.

$17 for French Fries?

Nishaan chose loaded fries for their Boardwalk dish, and they are selling it for $17, which has G’s Cheesesteaks thinking it’s overpriced. Tyler said the dish wasn’t that innovative, but they checked the other two boxes.

Meanwhile, one of the members of G’s Cheesesteaks sells an order of onion rings. However, his teammates don’t have the oil ready and need 20-25 more minutes. This starts an argument between the guys.

For Good Fortune Company, they are making a Korean chicken skewer for their dish. Tyler tastes them and likes them, but he had them add chili crisp and cilantro on top, and they all agreed that it put it over the top.

Stop Drop N Roll is making an elote spring roll. Tyler loved it, but he wanted some more heat. Fat Kid Food Co. got corn dogs, so they are all about adding their toppings to these corn dogs. Tyler seemed to love everything about it.

Chicken With Que is making chicken skin nachos. They said it’s going to be diabolical and wild. Tyler said it’s very innovative. It’s delicious and so interesting.

‘The Great Food Truck Race’ Challenge Results

Tyler has tried all of the dishes and now for the results of this first challenge tonight on “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18. The winners are:

  • Most Marketable ($100): Fat Kid Food Co.
  • Most Innovative ($200): Fat Kid Food Co.
  • Most Delicious ($300): Fat Kid Food Co., so they sweep and win all $600 for this challenge.

Funnel Cake Challenge

The first challenge is done, and the teams get back to selling for the day. The text then comes in from Tyler, and the day comes to an end.

The next day arrives, and Tyler calls, saying they will have to find their selling spots today. There will also be another challenge, as the teams will have to create a funnel cake, but make it savory. The team that sells the most of this dish will be able to shut down any other truck for one hour, so they won’t get to prep, sell, or make dishes.

Then, Tyler gives them the top 2 and bottom 2 teams after day 1. The top two teams are Stop Drop N Roll and Cooking With Que. The bottom two teams are Good Fortune Company and G’s Cheesesteaks.

Day 2 Selling Begins

The teams get their spots, and the prep, cooking, and selling have begun for day 2. The ladies of Cooking With Que are struggling with the funnel cake, as they’ve never made one before.

Nishaan is struggling to find a spot to sell. The place they picked has other food vendors there, so they are worried. They stick it out and then are even more worried, as their prices are way higher than the vendors around them.

Meanwhile, Tyler texts with the results from the Funnel Cake Challenge. Fat Kid Food Co. wins again, having sold $720 worth of their funnel cake dish. For winning, they choose to shut down Cooking With Que for one hour. The ladies are not happy.

Nishaan is struggling to make sales. The other teams are all trying to push through. Cooking With Que is still angry, but day 2 sales are done, and time for Tyler to reveal the results.

Myrtle Beach Results

The sales are done in Myrtle Beach, and time for the results on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025. For a complete rundown of the teams and their sales for this second leg:

  • Good Fortune Company – $5,978
  • Fat Kid Food Co. – $5,513
  • Stop Drop N Roll – $4,866
  • Cooking with Que – $4,821
  • Nishaan – $
  • G’s Cheesesteaks – There was just a $34 difference between Nishaan and G’s, but G’s is the bottom team tonight, and they have been eliminated.

Nishaan was $1,800 behind Cooking With Que tonight, so the bottom two teams were not even close. However, Nishaan lives on for another day.

Episode 4 – Teams Head to North Carolina

Time for another episode of “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18, as the teams are now making their way up the coast 75 miles to Wilmington, North Carolina. They are standing next to the Cape Fear River.

For the first challenge in Wilmington, it’s going to be a duel. The teams will be facing off against another team with the number one dish. Since Good Fortune Company won in Myrtle Beach, they will not be taking part. However, they got to choose the duels, which they chose Cooking With Que versus Fat Kid Food Co. and Nishaan versus Stop Drop N Roll. The team that sells more of their #1 dish compared to their opponent, then they win all the sales for the day for their opponent’s dish.

Tyler said Wilmington is very strict with health guidelines. They can’t prep on the food truck, but have to do it in a commissary. The health inspectors may show up during the time in North Carolina to check on trucks.

The Commissary Strikes Early

The teams finally get to their places to sell, but the issues with not being able to prep on the truck already come to hurt them. Fat Kid Food Co. forgot the cheese, and Cooking With Que forgot the shrimp, so back to the commissary for both of them.

Both pick up their stuff and are back at their trucks and selling. Cooking With Que is looking for revenge after Fat Kid shut them down for an hour in the last episode.

Nishaan and Stop Drop N Roll are also out selling. They both seem to have some business coming in, but they both want that duel win.

Duel Results

Day 1 has come to an end, and Tyler texts the teams the results. Nishaan beat Stop Drop N Roll, so they will get $210 for their win. Cooking With Que got their revenge and beat Fat Kid Food Co. tonight, so they got $275.

Southern Breakfast Challenge

The teams are leaving the hotel in the morning when they are greeted by Tyler, who is joined by James Beard-nominated chef Lauren Krall Ivey. They are ready for some breakfast, so the teams will be faced with creating a breakfast dish that is both comforting and elevated before heading out to sell for day 2.

The teams will have 30 minutes to impress Chef Lauren with their breakfast dish. The team that creates the best dish will win $15,000. That is a prize amount for this challenge and won’t be added to their till.

We see all of the teams push out their dish in 30 minutes. Chef Lauren tasted all the dishes, but the winning dish tonight on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025 is Cooking With Que. Their catfish and grits dish impressed Chef Lauren.

Day 2 of Selling

The challenge is done, and the teams head out to sell for day 2. They get to their spots, and that is when they all get some unexpected visitors. The health inspectors visit each truck to see if everyone is compliant.

While all of the teams passed the inspection, Nishaan didn’t have running water on the truck. They have to go to the commissary to fill up, so they have to shut down in the meantime. On the way to the commissary, they forgot to lock up their fridge, and the drawers/doors opened, and they lost food on the floor.

Because of the food on the floor, it took them 50 minutes at the commissary to fill up on water and clean up the mess. They get back to where they are selling, and the health inspector approves their truck now, so it is back to selling for Nishaan.

The text from Tyler comes in, and day 2 of selling is done, as it’s time for another team to be eliminated.

Wilmington Results

The sales are done in Wilmington, and time for the results on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025. For a complete rundown of the teams and their sales for this second leg:

  • Good Fortune Company – $4,801
  • Cooking with Que – $3,573
  • Nishaan – $2,984
  • Stop Drop N Roll – $2,840
  • Fat Kid Food Co. – They fell short by just $54, but Fat Kid Food Co. is the lowest-selling truck tonight and have been eliminated on “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18 tonight.

That one is a shocker, as Fat Kid has been so strong in the challenges. However, they finished at the bottom in North Carolina and are headed home. Another shocker is Good Fortune Company, which won by almost $1,300 tonight. That is a huge win.

What did you think of the results tonight on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025?
