We are back with season 18 of “The Great Food Truck Race,” as the teams are heading up the Atlantic coast for one of the most exciting seasons yet. Host Tyler Florence will help guide the nine teams as they battle it out with bold flavors and fierce determination for a shot at food truck fame and a $50,000 grand prize.
New Season of ‘The Great Food Truck Race’
For season 18, which is titled “The Great Food Truck Race: Truckin’ Awesome,” the fan-favorite food competition series will have nine teams facing off against each other. They will hit the road for a culinary road trip. Each of them has a chance at winning the $50,000 prize. However, there will be some unexpected detours along the way.
Florence will challenge these teams on this road trip. They will be asked to cook, sell, and strategize their way through an eight-city route that starts in Savannah and ends in New York.
The teams will have some exciting stops along the way. They will hit up some high-profile spots, including a busy beach boardwalk, a NASCAR raceway, and a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier.
‘The Great Food Truck Race’ 2025 Premiere
For the “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18 premiere, the teams are kicking things off on a high note. They will be meeting one of baseball’s most entertaining teams, the Savannah Bananas.
Since season 18 kicks off in Savannah, the players are going to introduce the cooks to their first cooking challenge of the season. It, of course, will feature bananas.
The premiere will have a front-runner that quickly emerges. However, we will also see three teams face the chopping block when the final day of sales arrives.
In the episode description from Food Network, the episode features a dramatic twist at the end. This will include a “shocking, never-before-seen surprise” elimination that promises to set the tone for the remainder of the season.
PEOPLE was able to get an exclusive first look at tonight’s premiere, where food truck Eat My Biscuits gives a banana-infused biscuit to a few of the Bananas, who all seem to enjoy the innovative dish.
Malachi Mitchell joked, “You take that bite and you look over at your mama, and you say, ‘I’m sorry, mama.’”
We also get a chance to see Team Rising Tiger serve up some banana steak fries, which many of the customers are pleasantly surprised by. It’s definitely a sweet addition to a traditionally savory dish.
“The Great Food Truck” season 18 premieres tonight, Sunday, August 3, at 9/8c on Food Network, with next-day streaming available on HBO Max.
