Signature Dish Challenge
Tyler welcomes the nine teams to season 18, and we kick things off in Savannah, Georgia. Before they feed Savannah, they have to feed Tyler. They have 30 minutes to create their signature dish, a dish that represents who they are and their truck. The truck that creates the best dish will get a $300 advance from Tyler.
Nishaan has only been doing their truck for six months. They work in IT and want to do this full time. Eat My Biscuits is from Atlanta, Georgia, and they are having an issue with what type of biscuit they want to make for this challenge: in the oven or stovetop.
G’s Cheesesteaks are, of course, going to do a New York Cheesesteak as their signature dish. This is what they are known for and want to give Tyler what they’re known for. Stop Drop N Roll specializes in Vietnamese food. They will be making their signature egg roll.
Nishaan has no sour cream for their signature sauce, so they will be in trouble without it. They go to all of the teams on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025, and none of them can help them out. They have no other option but to try using extra mayo, and they’re feeling good.
Good Fortune Company makes everything from scratch and will be making their signature dumplings tonight. One of the members of Cooking with Que was sick and discovered that a vegan diet got rid of her cold after being sick for months. They are making a loaded vegan mac and cheese.
Rising Tiger is making a dish they’ve never made before, which is a big risk. Fat Kid Food Co. seems to throw everything into one dish, but it looks amazing at the same time. Meanwhile, Nishaan is struggling with this challenge and making a lot of mistakes.
While everyone is stressing to get their dishes done, G’s is done early and is just relaxing. Eat My Biscuits decides to go with a stovetop biscuit because it looks better. Time runs out, and time for Tyler to taste their dishes.
Challenge Results
Tyler has the dishes in front of him and time for him to pick a winner:
- Fat Kid Food Co. – Tyler said the flavors can get a little busy, and sometimes you have to hit a ceiling before it’s too much, and this is a little above the ceiling, but it’s good.
- Good Fortune Company – He said the dough is a little thick, but that’s about as good as it gets.
- Eat My Biscuits – He could tell they cooked it on a stovetop, and it’s a little heavy. It’s delicious and reminds him of his grandma.
- Burger Walla – He said it’s great and the lamb burger is nice, but the bun was grocery store.
- G’s Cheesesteaks – Tyler said that’s really good and dead-on perfect with no notes.
- Rising Tiger – He said this might be a $50,000 sandwich, and it was great.
- Nishaan – He said it was really great, but he wanted sauce drizzled on it and rolling down his fingers. He gave them a lot of pointers and tips.
- Cooking with Que – Tyler said there might be too many flavors on top and to pull one of them off, but they got a banger there.
- Stop Drop N Roll – The sauce is a little thin and wants it thicker. It’s super fun and perfect coming off a food truck.
Tyler said two dishes are standing out to him, so he is adding a second-place prize of $150 for their till. In second place is G’s Cheesesteaks, and they aren’t happy, as they said second place with no notes? In first place for tonight’s signature dish challenge on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025 is Rising Tiger, so they have $300 for their till and an early lead.
For the next challenge, they will be serving together as a food court. The teams then head to Sam’s Club to get all of their ingredients for this challenge. Eat My Biscuits can’t find self-rising flour for their biscuits. Nishaan can’t find the meat they need, so they have to go to a specialty store. G’s Cheesesteaks can’t find the proper bread they need for their dishes.
Nishaan can’t find the meat, as it needs to be halal food. They are sticking to their morals and values and may not be able to serve any food without the proper meat.
Let the Selling Begin
As Nishaan finds a place that sells fresh meat and G’s Cheesesteaks finds a place with the bread they need, Fat Kid Food Co. has their different burgers ready, and they are the first to open for the day at 12:04 p.m.
G’s Cheesesteaks bargained for their bread and then were able to finally open, which was at 12:47 p.m., and they were the seventh truck to open. Nishaan is back and the eighth truck to open, which is 1:10 p.m. They are still prepping food, but taking orders. Telling people it’ll be 20 minutes, but it will be longer than that.
Over at Burger Walla, they forgot to buy flour and can’t make one of their sides, and may have shot themselves in the foot on “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18. The generator goes out for Eat My Biscuits. It looks cooked and will have to have someone come fix it.
The mechanic comes and they get it fixed, but then they have biscuits in the oven that are kind of burnt. They caught them in time and can still use them, but then they can’t get the window open to the truck. Can’t sell without the window opened, so it all continues to go bad for Eat My Biscuits. The mechanics are able to help and get the window open.
Here Come the Savannah Bananas
Let the fun begin on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025 as the Savannah Bananas have arrived. They will now have one hour to make and sell a brand new dish featuring bananas. The team that sells the most banana dishes in one hour will get an extra hour of selling as the other teams will have to pack it up.
G’s Cheesesteaks tries a dish with the bananas, and it isn’t good, so they nix the challenge and just move on to their regular menu. Rising Tiger created banana steak fries, and they were a hit, as they sold 17 of the dishes in one hour, and they won the challenge. The other teams are packing it up for the day, but Rising Tiger gets an extra hour. We clearly have an early favorite for “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18.
Day 2 – Save Your Soul Challenge
Team teams meet Tyler, and he says that after day 1 of sales, three of the teams are in danger: Eat My Biscuits, Nishaan, and Burger Walla. They have a chance to save their souls. The three teams will have 30 minutes to create a dish that hits the soul, which will save them in the competition. The team that wins this challenge will earn immunity in Savannah.
One of the teams for Hishaan is fasting for Ramadan, so he can’t taste any of the food before sunset. They get some chili oil from Rising Tiger to use for their dish, which Burger Walla said they’d never do.
The time runs out, and time for Tyler to taste the dishes. He loved everyone’s dish, and they all improved over the first dish they gave him. However, only one of the teams can win this challenge. The team that won immunity is Burger Walla.
Day 2 – Selling
They have seven hours to sell today. While Tyler said the teams were close, there were three bottom teams and now Nishaan thinks it’s a battle between them and Eat My Biscuits to stay in this competition.
Meanwhile, Nishaan ran out of supplies, so they had to run to the store again. Meanwhile, the other teams have lines and are taking orders. Nishaan is selling tea, hoping that increases their sales. Eat My Biscuits reduced pricing on their dishes, hoping to increase sales and not go home.
The teams all seem to be enjoying day 2, and have sold out of most of their stuff. However, it all depends on sales, and Tyler is ready for the first elimination on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025.
First Elimination on ‘The Great Food Truck Race’ 2025
The team with the lowest sales on the first leg of the race is Burger Walla, which had $858 in sales for the first two days of sales. However, they have immunity and are heading to the next leg of the race.
For a complete rundown of the teams and their sales for this first leg:
- Nishaan – $2,266
- G’s Cheesesteaks – $2,208
- Fat Kid Food Co. – $2,078
- Cooking with Que – $1,664
- Good Fortune Company – $1,658
- Stop Drop N Roll – $1,629
- Rising Tiger – They never gave a total for this team, but they won both the first two challenges and were still in the bottom two!
- Eat My Biscuits – $1,153, saying if they had increased the price of biscuits, they could have stayed, so they did lower their prices, and that hurt them on day 2.
- Burger Walla – $858, but they have immunity.
While Tyler said Eat My Biscuits was the team going home, Rising Tiger stepped up and said, due to personal reasons, they had to step out of the challenge. Yes, they were going home, and everyone thought Eat My Biscuits would stay. However, Tyler said rules are rules, and the team with the lowest sales has to go home, so Eat My Biscuits is still eliminated.
So, both Rising Tiger (who wouldn’t tell producers the reason for them leaving) and Eat My Biscuits were eliminated tonight on “The Great Food Truck Race” season 18.
The teams will be heading to Charleston, South Carolina, for next week’s challenges on “The Great Food Truck Race” 2025.
