The Food Network is honoring the life and legacy of Anne Burrell, one of its most beloved stars, following her tragic death by suicide last month. The end of the episode featured a smiling photo of Burrell alongside the message “In Memoriam.” It was followed by a reminder about mental health resources, reading: “If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.”

Weekly On-Air Tributes Planned for Final Season Featuring Burrell

The tribute during the season premiere won’t be the last time fans see Burrell honored on screen. The Food Network confirmed that Burrell will receive a special tribute each week during the remainder of the season.

“Anne Burrell was a one-of-a-kind talent whose loss is being deeply felt by family, friends, and fans,” said Betsy Ayala, Head of Content, Food, Warner Bros. Discovery, in a statement released on June 23.

“With these special programming events, we hope to honor Anne and celebrate her impact on Food Network and beyond, and to offer fans a way to remember her passion and culinary prowess that ran through everything she did.”

A Tragic Loss for the Culinary World

Burrell was found unresponsive in her New York City apartment on June 17, following a police call reporting a possible cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene at age 55. One month later, the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to NBC News that her cause of death was suicide.
