Celebrity chef, writer and television personality Bobby Flay has celebrated an illustrious career with the Food Network, joining popular culinary series like “Worst Cooks in America,” “Iron Chef America” and “Bobby’s Triple Threat” since he joined the network in 1994.
Now, the 60-year-old chef has his sights set on new ventures, revealing during a July 18 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that he is currently developing a Broadway musical based on his culinary competition series, “Beat Bobby Flay.” The star similarly revealed that he has his sights set on one pop star in particular to bring the heat and flavor of Bobby Flay to the Broadway stage.
Bobby Flay Teases Broadway Musical Based on His Life
“Don’t laugh,” Flay told Fallon when he first revealed that he was developing a “Beat Bobby Flay” musical for Broadway. “We’re going to make it happen…The whole thing’s happening.
Elaborating on what the forthcoming show will be about, Flay revealed, “It’s going to tell a little bit of my life story, and it’s gonna be a party. This is not gonna be a bunch of show tunes. This is gonna be amazing…It’s gonna be a real New York situation where it’s going to be a party every evening in the theater.”

A Manhattan-native himself, Flay added that a writer and an “amazing composer” have already been attached to the project. The only thing missing to truly get the production off the ground? A lead actor to play the role of Bobby Flay himself.
While finding an actor with the stage-presence and vocal talent to make “Beat Bobby Flay” a Broadway success will be a challenge, Flay himself already has his sights set on one actor – who’s also a global pop superstar – in mind.
Flay Reveals the Pop Sensation He Wants to Play Him on Stage
Flay took the opportunity to set his plans into motion during his “Tonight Show” appearance, asking Fallon to convince his close friend to consider stepping into the role.
“ We need Justin Timberlake,” said Flay.

Timberlake has been a star of stage and screen since his youth, originally appearing on the cast of “The All New Mickey Mouse Club” in the early 1990s alongside future pop icons like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera before joining the Grammy-nominated boy band NSYNC in 1996.
Now 44, Timberlake has since celebrated acting roles in films “No Strings Attached,” “The Social Network” and “In Time,” as well as his own solo music career, including six studio albums to date. With Emmy and Grammy wins, as well as an Oscar nomination, already in his collection, Flay suggested that, by joining “Beat Bobby Flay” on Broadway, Timberlake could be one step closer to claiming EGOT status.
“[Timberlake] hasn’t won a Tony yet,” said Flay. “Come on!…He can sing, he can dance, he can do it all.”
The celebrity chef then sent out one last plea to convince the “Can’t Stop the Feeling” singer, promising Timberlake: there “will be food.”
