Former “Dancing With the Stars” host Tyra Banks has lost her home in the California wildfires. The 51-year old supermodel shared the news during an interview with Australian morning show, “Sunrise.”
“I lost my house. I haven’t really talked about it, but, yeah, I have. I just didn’t want to pull a lot of attention to me. I feel like there’s a lot of people that need that attention, so I haven’t really talked about it, but I can’t sit here and not tell the truth that, yeah, we lost our house,” Banks said.
She shared the home with her partner, Louis Bélanger-Martin.
“We were at a friend’s house here and we were celebrating and having fun. I kept checking my phone, not for my house, but for friends and family, making sure they were evacuating and everything. And then I asked my partner, I was like, ‘I’m seeing something here, what do you think?’ And I just pulled it together and just didn’t say anything to my friends and just stayed in that moment, and then we went home and we cried and we had our moment,” she added.
Banks also has a home in New York and said that the majority of the important things in her life were spared.
Banks hosted “Dancing With the Stars” for three seasons following the departure of Tom Bergeron. She left the show in 2023.
Tyra Banks Said She Feels ‘Weird’
In an Instagram video that Banks shared following her interview on “Sunrise,” she said that she’s been feeling “weird.” She explained that she’s been hyper-focused on her company, SMIZE.
“My head’s been down. I haven’t really been out there,” she said. Many fans supported her grind and let her know that she’s loved in the comments section of the post.
“I watched your interview!!! So inspired by you and can’t wait to try your creations ! Welcome to Australia,” one person wrote.
“Just like a butterfly, sometimes you have to ‘disappear’ for a second to evolve. Sending so many smizes your way,” someone else added.
Tyra Banks Previously Posted About the California Wildfires
Banks has been working in Australia, but her home in California and the people who have been dealing with the wildfires haven’t been far from her mind.
“The Palisades is such a special place—a true village. Small, quaint, and filled with the most warm, kind people. So seeing what’s happening now is truly devastating. To everyone affected, my heart is with you. My family lived there for a decade, and we’ve seen the strength of this community firsthand. We know you will get through this,” she captioned an Instagram post on January 10.
The next day, Banks wrote a lengthy post about the fires in Pasadena and Altadena.
“We will rebuild. We will recover. But right now, we’re simply getting through—moment by moment,” she wrote, in part.
