‘DWTS’ Hosts Take Center Stage with Special Performance

ABC released an exclusive extended promo featuring Hough and Ribeiro. The duo showcased their own dance moves to “Pump Up the Jam” by Technotronic. The promotional video shows Hough, 37, sporting a white sports bra and sweatpants while Ribeiro, 53, danced in a gray sweatshirt and pants.

“The ballroom is in good hands with @juleshough and @therealalfonsoribeiro,” the show announced on its official Instagram account alongside new promo photos. The announcement also featured a glamorous shot of Hough in a cut-out sparkly blue dress, highlighting the show’s signature style.

Some fans expressed confusion about the promotional content, expecting cast announcements instead. However, the performance served as an entertaining preview of the upcoming season’s excitement. The show had been teasing “something special” for several days. Ribeiro posted over the weekend: “Something special is coming tomorrow and you don’t want to miss it.”

Early ‘DWTS’ Cast Reveals and Professional Lineup

ABC has already confirmed several celebrity contestants for season 34. TikTok star Alix Earle and wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin, will compete for the coveted mirrorball trophy. Additionally, during the “Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” reunion special in July, host Nick Viall revealed that producers chose both Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt to join the cast.

The September 3 episode of “Good Morning America” will officially unveil the complete roster of celebrity participants and returning professional dancers. Recent reports suggest that several familiar professional dancers will return, including Britt Stewart, Rylee Arnold, Emma Slater, Daniella Karagach, Jenna Johnson, and Witney Carson. The show has also confirmed that male professionals Val Chmerkovskiy and Brandon Armstrong will be back.

One notable comeback story involves Mark Ballas, who previously left the show in 2023. The three-time mirrorball trophy winner’s final victory came during season 31 when he partnered with Charli D’Amelio. During the 2023 “DWTS” tour in Las Vegas, he had stated, “This will be the last time you see me dance in this capacity. I’m coming to a close tonight. This is going to be my last dance.”

Derek Hough recently teased what fans can expect from the upcoming “DWTS” season during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “I don’t know what that means these days, but I guess that’s a phrase that people use. Tea will be spilled,” he said. “I think there’s a lot of energy. There’s a lot of momentum with Dancing With the Stars… I think it’s going to be a big season.”
