“Dancing with the Stars” professional dancers Jenna Johnson and Val Chmerkovskiy have one son, Rome. The DWTS stars frequently share updates about Rome on their social media pages, and the latest was a big one. Their little boy, who is nearly 2 years old, just underwent a huge change, and fans went wild over it.
Val Chmerkovskiy & Jenna Johnson’s Son Got His 1st Haircut
On August 20, Johnson shared the adorable photos and video via Instagram. She wrote, “And just like that, we have a BIG BOY.”
Johnson included a couple of emojis that signaled she felt somewhat teary over the change. She also added several hashtags at the end of her caption, one of which indicated this was Rome’s first haircut.
The first picture showed Rome sitting in a chair before the cut began. He smiled as his long hair rested loosely on his shoulders. Chmerkovskiy and Johnson have kept Rome’s hair long until now, sometimes pulling it back into a ponytail like Chmerkovskiy himself wears at times.
The second photo in Johnson’s post showed the toddler post-haircut. His smile was even wider, and his eyes sparkled. It appeared that Johnson may have been holding him up so he could see himself and his big boy haircut in the mirror.
The third upload in Johnson’s Instagram post was a video she took toward the end of Rome’s haircut. She asked what he thought and whether he liked his haircut, and Rome seemed to say “yeah” as he ate some snacks.
Johnson pushed some of Rome’s shorter hair back on his forehead as they both took in the new look.

Fellow “Dancing with the Stars” pro Alan Bersten added, “Oh my goodness!”
Daniella Karagach, another show pro, shared, “I CANNOT.”

“Love it!! Boys always look so cute when they get their first haircut,” agreed another fan.
Rome’s haircut news prompted one person to write, “I was not emotionally prepared for this post. Oh he’s so adorable! He looks equally handsome both ways… but wow this makes him look so grown up.”
Another admitted, “Omg – be still my heart. I wasn’t prepared to see this! He is precious in all ways! Such a good boy sitting in that chair! He’s just looking so big now!”
