‘DWTS’ Alum Jamie Lynn Spears Bravely Opens Up About Skin Struggles at 34

For former “Dancing with the Stars” alum Jamie Lynn Spears, beauty isn’t always skin deep. The 34-year-old “Sweet Magnolias” actress revealed on August 18 that she has been diagnosed with adult acne. In the post, she candidly admits she sometimes relies on makeup to help her feel her best. “I wish my skin looked like this in real life,” she wrote alongside a smooth-skinned selfie. “I was actually diagnosed with adult acne this year.”

Spears praised her “Sweet Magnolias” makeup artist, Amber Crowe, for not only perfecting her on-screen look but also motivating her to seek a dermatologist. “Movie magic,” Spears called Crowe’s work, noting how she keeps her character Noreen looking “fresh as a daisy.”

Crowe, whose credits include “Dynasty” and “The Vampire Diaries”, reposted Spears’ snap, writing, “I love you, Jamie Lynn!!!” Spears’ co-star JoAnna Garcia Swisher also chimed in with support, commenting, “You’re gorgeous.”

Celebrating Maddie’s Senior Year

While managing her skin condition, Spears hasn’t slowed down on family milestones. Her eldest daughter, Maddie, 16, whom she welcomed with ex Casey Aldridge at age 17, just started her senior year of high school.

Maddie marked the moment on Instagram with photos from her first day, including solo shots, fun group pics, and family photos with Spears and her younger sister. “Last first day,” Maddie captioned the post with three graduation cap emojis.

Looking Ahead to College & Softball

Spears previously shared that Maddie is preparing to play Division 1 softball at the University of Southern Mississippi. Reflecting on her daughter’s journey, Spears posted in November 2025, “All in my feels, bc my baby girl has committed to furthering her athletic & academic career at the University of Southern Miss. I have witnessed this kid go through, face, & overcome some impossible things by her own strong will, convictions, determination, & the sheer grace of God.”

She added, “I can remember it like it was just yesterday, as the whole world watched and judged as I made the choice to have my baby at 16 years old. Fast fwd to today, and that same little baby girl is now 16 years old herself announcing that she will be going to play D1 ball for an amazing college.”

How Spears & Her Daughter Are Moving On From A Near-Fatal Incident

Spears’ daughter recently opened up about a life-changing moment from her past. On August 12, Maddie, 17, shared a candid video on her YouTube channel where she discussed several injuries she has experienced over the years.

For the first time, she publicly addressed the traumatic ATV accident she suffered at just 8 years old.

“I did have an accident though,” Maddie recalled. “I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and I’m very blessed. So yeah, I’ve just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing and they did not do anything to me.”
