Bindi Irwin Reveals New Health Update After Emergency Surgery

Bindi Irwin is on the mend following her recent surgery, noting she is “finally” at a place where she’s “feeling better.” See what the “Dancing With the Stars” season 21 winner said about her health and why she’s been so open about her journey.

Bindi Irwin Gives Update After Recent Surgery: ‘Genuinely Healing’

On August 13, Irwin took to Instagram to share her latest health update with fans.

“13 years of fighting for answers. 51 endometriosis lesions, a chocolate cyst, and my appendix were all removed across two surgeries with @seckinmd,” Irwin wrote in the caption. My hernia from giving birth that was unzipping — was taken care of.”

She continued, “I can FINALLY say that I’m feeling better. Genuinely healing. I can function in everyday life without wanting to throw up or pass out from the pain. Slowly, slowly gaining my strength back.”

Irwin noted, “I cannot express the gravity of my emotions as I am beginning to recognise myself again. I felt utterly ashamed as a teenager and young adult being told that my pain was just part of being a woman. I felt lesser. I felt hurt. I felt weak.”

“That is not ok. Young girls and women shouldn’t feel alone with pain in the driver’s seat of their lives,” she added. “We need to take away the stigma of talking about women’s health. It’s time to have open discussions and make change on a global scale.”

Fans praised Irwin for being so open about her health journey.

“I applaud you for raising awareness about this. It’s time women stopped being gaslighted about this and other women’s health issues,” one fan noted. “I’m glad you’re feeling better and hope the future is brighter and easier when your daughter is your age. Bravo you!!”

Another fan commented, “So proud of you for speaking up and sharing your journey.”

Irwin Has Given Vulnerable Health Updates in the Past

Irwin underwent emergency surgery in May 2025 after her appendix ruptured. She explained in an Instagram post at the time, “After having a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help the day of our Steve Irwin Gala in Las Vegas. I consulted with Dr. Seckin, and we agreed that if I flew to New York, he could also check for endometriosis again. Surgery was a success.”

The “DWTS” alum noted, “My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago). I also had a repair to a large hernia I acquired through childbirth four years ago. Thankfully, I am on the road to recovery.”

She first revealed her endometriosis diagnosis in a March 2023 Instagram post, sharing at the time that for 10 years she “struggled with insurmountable fatigue, pain and nausea.”
