It looks like the feud between country staple Zach Bryan and singer-songwriter John Moreland hasn’t ended yet.
Escalating further, Moreland took to social media to respond to the controversy surrounding Bryan’s decision to remove their duet from his album. The track, “Memphis, The Blues,” was pulled from all streaming platforms shortly after Moreland criticized Bryan’s reported multimillion-dollar deal with Warner Records.
The “Something in the Orange” singer reportedly extended his contract with Warner to include two additional albums. According to Variety, Bryan has either sold or is in the process of selling his music catalog in a deal valued at $350 million.

“$350M is a lot to pay for the fu***ng off-brand version of me,” Moreland stated.
Bryan later explained his decision to remove the duet, saying he did not want anyone on his record who had ongoing issues with him. He also confirmed plans to re-release the song without Moreland’s vocals.
Despite the tension circulating on social media, Bryan told fans there were “no hard feelings” and assured them the song would return in an alternate version.
Moreland, however, shared his perspective in an Instagram video.
“OK, so I’ll just say one more thing about it. I’m gonna get back to my real life and let y’all have fun on the internet. When I was asked to be on that album, I did not know that dude. Never met him,” Moreland said.

“Just a really big artist from where I’m from [Tulsa, Oklahoma], asking me to be on a record. Cool,” he continued. “The first time I met him, we recorded the song. Didn’t have the greatest impression, but no big deal—whatever, fine. Then we recorded the song. The album comes out in a month. I had met him once at that point.”
The song was part of Bryan’s 2024 album, “The Great American Bar Scene.” Despite its success, Moreland stated that he would not collaborate with Bryan again.
“I wouldn’t do it. I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who is a d***head to my wife and my friends right in front of me every time I see him,” he said.
He added that he would rather be perceived as an “a**hole” by Bryan and stay true to his artistry.
“As far as I’m concerned, getting kicked off a Zach Bryan album is way f***ing cooler than being on a Zach Bryan album.”
Bryan responded to the controversy on his Instagram story, writing, “Yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported. Not trying to be dramatic but refusing to have anyone with a problem with me on my records. Replacing ‘Memphis the Blues.’ If it goes down for a bit just know this is the reason! No hard feelings! Confused as shit, Tulsans look out for Tulsans.”
As of now, neither artist has made further public comments. Fans are waiting to see who will speak next.
