Tim McGraw Says Faith Hill Saved His Life

Tim McGraw isn’t mincing his words when it comes to wife Faith Hill. He says the bottom line is that his wife “saved his life.”

McGraw made that declaration in a new interview on Tracy Lawrence’s “Road House” podcast.

In the one-hour interview, McGraw opened up about how meeting Hill turned his life around. “I’ve been lucky. I’ve been very fortunate. First off, meeting my wife saved my life. I was a wild man,” McGraw told Lawrence.

“I was having fun.” said the 58-year-old. “She turned my life around. I couldn’t have found a better woman. Not only beautiful and talented, but just a good, good person. And then having our daughters. It’s life-changing. They make you a better person, and they certainly calm the demons in you.”

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill share three daughters- Gracie, 27, Maggie, 26, and Audrey, 23.

Tim McGraw Says Fatherhood Changed Everything

The “Live Like You Were Dying” singer talked with his old friend and fellow country artist Tracy Lawrence about how putting his three daughters through school, coaching their sports, making breakfasts and all the aspects of fatherhood “changed everything about my life.”

“It changed my perspective. It changed the way I thought about what my future would be. It certainly took me out of myself,” said McGraw, who’s been sober since 2008. McGraw has spoken in the past about how wife, Faith Hill helped him quit alcohol.

In 2021, McGraw told Esquire, “I remember a moment when I was getting out of bed and going to the liquor cabinet and taking a big shot at 8:00 in the morning and thinking, I have to wake the kids up. I went straight to my wife and said, “This is where I’m at.” I was scared. She just grabbed me and hugged me and changed my life.”

Now that the couple’s daughters are all grown up, McGraw is finding joy in watching them chase their dreams. Both Gracie and Audrey have followed in their parent’s footsteps and have embarked on careers in the music industry.

In fact, Tim McGraw just put up a post on his Instagram account showing that Audrey McGraw will be touring Europe as the opening act for singer Brandi Carlile. In the caption, he wrote, “Look out Europe! Here comes Audrey!”

Tim McGraw Names Touring with Wife the ‘Pinnacle’ of His Career

In the podcast, Tracy Lawrence asked Tim McGraw what he considers the pinnacle of his career. And once again his answer goes straight back to wife Faith Hill.

“My tours with Faith,” he answered. “The Soul2Soul tours with Faith, for a couple of reasons, because it’s rare that people get to do that in this business, that a husband and wife get to go on tour at the pinnacle of their careers and get to do stuff together,” McGraw explained.

But that’s not the only reason. “More importantly,” added McGraw, “she makes me a better artist every time I have to sing with her. Because to me, I think Faith, when you listen to her music and you listen to her albums, I think she is probably one of the best singers in the world. She just really has such a soulful voice, and her musical taste is just so incredible.”
