Riley Green Reveals Surprising Truth About ‘Don’t Mind If I Do’

“Don’t Mind If I Do” is Riley Green‘s latest duet with fellow country music star Ella Langley, and it’s been steadily climbing the charts since its release. However, fans may be surprised to learn that Green didn’t originally intend to do the duet with Langley. As the “Worst Way” singer explained to Big Machine Label Group, the duet came about accidentally.

Green first wrote the song while touring, and he enlisted Langley’s help with figuring out the right key for a prospective duet partner. Later, he realized that she was the right person for the job.

“When I was in the studio recording it, I just called her to come by to put a vocal on it so I could play it for whoever I was gonna pitch it to as far as the female,” Green said. “And she just crushed it.”

Just like that, the pair’s second successful collaboration was born.

The new duet isn’t Green and Langley’s first collaboration. The pair also worked together on “You Look Like You Love Me,” released in June 2024.

Langley joining Green on “Don’t Mind If I Do” wasn’t just harmonious happenstance; it also made a lot of lyrical sense to the country star.

“Lyrically it kind of feels like the song after ‘You Look Like You Love Me,'” Green explained. “So it’s kinda cool to have that accidentally work out.” The two songs find their subjects at very different stages of a romantic relationship, making it very easy to think of them as two chapters in the same tale.

Fans are clearly here for this story, as the song earned an RIAA platinum certification in July 2025. The pair performed the song multiple times on Green’s “Damn Country Music” tour, which was in full swing throughout the summer.

Langley didn’t accompany Green on every tour stop, so he had to get creative with duet partners on the road. At a July 2025 show at the York State Fair in Pennsylvania, the singer invited a surprisingly talented member of the crowd to take on Langley’s part of the song.

The fan, Rachel, stunned the audience with her talent and stayed in lockstep with Green throughout the duet. In Langley’s absence, she did the song justice, creating a viral moment that fans loved.
