Reba McEntire joined forces with fellow country music superstars Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson to create “Trailblazer” this year, and it quickly became a hit. Now, the “Fancy” singer has shared a rare look behind the scenes of the making of the song. McEntire took to Instagram with a clip of the three singers working together in the studio.
The trio first debuted the single live during the ACM Awards, and the audience response was overwhelmingly positive. Before long, the song became McEntire’s all-time most successful streaming debut, adding yet another impressive record to her resume.
Fans loved the behind-the-scenes footage, flooding the comments section with love for the trio. “It’s so beautiful to see these queens working together,” one fan wrote. However, the clip didn’t just give fans a bird’s eye view of them McEntire and her pals practicing together; it also allowed the singers to share important messages about women in country music and the bond they’ve built together.
The Singers Discussed The Legacy of Women in Country

“Thank God for the women before us,” McEntire shared in the clip, listing some of her own idols as performers she looked up to at the start of her career. “They all stuck together and helped each other out,” she said.
Wilson and Lambert agreed, each sharing their own perspective on McEntire’s powerful statement. “[It’s] about high-fiving each other and running to the finish line together,” Wilson said. Lambert added that working together is more fun than working alone. Based on the hugs, smiles, and overall heartwarming camaraderie in the video, her fellow singers clearly feel the same way.
McEntire Said ‘It Makes My Heart So Happy’ to Sing With Wilson & Lambert

In a longer version of the clip posted to YouTube, McEntire shared how it felt to be in the studio with Lambert and Wilson. “Getting to sing with you guys, and y’all sing in the harmony parts, it’s just angel singing,” McEntire said. “It just makes my heart so happy.”
Lambert recalled a funny fangirl moment from the studio session, when Wilson and she had to keep it together after their first run-through. “The first time we ran through the chorus, me and Lainey were like, ‘Oh my god, did that just happen?'” Lambert shared. The other two singers laughed, and Wilson confessed she was telling herself to “be cool” after the take.
At the conclusion of the clip, McEntire shared what she hopes future generations of women in country will look like. “I hope that in a 100 years, the girls that follow behind us have strong work ethics, and they love country music, and represent it well.” There’s no telling what the future holds, but this trio is certainly paving the way.
