Randy Travis Fans React to New ACM Announcement

Randy Travis has left an indelible mark on the world of country music, and the industry is honoring him for his contributions in a big way this year. In a new Instagram announcement, the Academy of Country music revealed that Travis will receive the 2025 Milestone Award.

The honor recognizes his role in the country music resurgence of the 1990s, but also his personal journey. “Following a life-altering stroke in 2013, his courage has become a symbol of resilience and a prominent voice for advocating stroke awareness and healthcare rights,” the post’s caption reads. Travis fans responded to the news with a flurry of heart emojis and kind words for the singer. “Randy Travis is still a country music pioneer; congratulations on a much deserved honor,” one fan wrote.

In addition to his upcoming ACM Honor, Travis has an exciting new release on the horizon: a vinyl album. The singer announced the record’s release in a recent Instagram Reel, sharing that it will include 10 well-known songs. The vinyl hits shelves on August 1st and is available for pre-order.

Although Travis can’t sing as he once did, AI has helped his bring new music to life in the years since his stroke. With the help of singer James Dupré and some sophisticated AI models, Travis has released two singles, “Where That Came From” and, most recently, “Horses in Heaven.”

Despite the fact that stroke-induced aphasia has limited his communication abilities, Travis is still interacting with fans. His “More Life” tour has been in full swing for most of 2025, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. As Tasted of Country reported, the singer’s team announced thirty additional shows in early March. As of this publication, the tour will run through early November.

James Dupré is by Travis’ side for the tour, and he’s become an integral part of this phase of the singer’s career. “When I was a kid, I was always attracted to really good voices,” Dupré said in an interview with WFAA. “I remember hearing Vince Gill and Randy Travis, and you know, all those great singers from the 80s and 90s… It just made me wanna do that.” The singer also recalled trying to mimic Travis’ voice when he was younger, a practice that has truly come full circle in his current role.
