Morgan Wallen has smashed yet another record, and this time its superstar Taylor Swift he’s stealing a title from.
While Wallen’s fourth studio album doesn’t drop until May 16, it’s already setting records that are writing the singer’s name in the history books.
The 31-year-old’s latest track release “Just in Case,” from the upcoming album “I’m the Problem,” debuted at No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. That makes Wallen the first artist to have five songs from an unreleased album reach the Top 10.
Taylor Swift had held onto that record since 2012, when four of her songs from her “Red” album charted in the top ten before the album’s release. Post Malone tied that achievement with four tracks from his 2019 album “Hollywood’s Bleeding” hitting the top ten before that album dropped.
Now Wallen’s fifth single “Just In Case,” joins “Lies Lies Lies,” plus title track “I’m the Problem, “Smile” and “Love Somebody” in knocking both Swift and Malone off that particular throne.
This Isn’t the First Record of Taylor Swift’s Morgan Wallen Has Broken
It’s not the first record the so-called bad boy of country music has taken from the Eras star. Last year, Morgan Wallen broke a different Billboard record held by Swift when three of his singles reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts at the same time.
Only a handful of other artists including Swift have achieved that twice, including Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, John Denver and Glen Campbell.
Wallen also dethroned country legend Garth Brooks from a long-held record.
And he did it in record time.
Wallen bested Brooks record for weeks at number one on Billboard’s Top Country Album Chart.
Brooks, 63, spent 35-years racking up number ones, with 173 weeks collectively at the top spot on Billboard’s prestigious Top Country Album Chart.. Those hits spanned 17 albums.
Wallen topped that number in less than five years, with just three albums. And he continues to add to it.
According to Billboard, only 21 artists have spent 50 or more weeks at the top of the Top Country Album Chart in its 61-year history. Of those, only three female solo artists are on that list. They are Lee Ann Rimes with 50 weeks, Shania Twain with 97 weeks and Taylor Swift, with 101 weeks at number one.
