Morgan Wallen Goes Trap-Country with ‘Miami’ Remix Featuring Lil Wayne and Rick Ross

If you thought Morgan Wallen was done surprising you, think again. This man, who is currently dominating the music charts left and right, just proved he’s not afraid to shake things up. This time by inviting not one but two hip-hop heavyweights into his Southern orbit.

On Friday, July 25, Wallen will officially drop a trap-leaning remix of his song “Miami” featuring none other than Lil Wayne and Rick Ross. Yes, you read that right. The Tennessee native is fusing banjos with bars, and honestly? Honestly, it kind of works.

From Sneedville to South Beach

Originally released in May as part of his newest album, “I’m the Problem,” “Miami” already stood out for its detour from traditional country. The song gives a beautiful and quite different nod to Keith Whitley’s “Miami, My Amy.” This time around, Wallen spun it into something far more genre-blurred.

During a July show in (of course, where else?) Miami, Wallen teased the remix by switching up his walk-out music. Instead of his usual track, which is “Interlude,” fans were hit with new verses from Wayne and Rozay echoing through the stadium. Safe to say the Miami crowd went absolutely insane. Especially on social media.

“I need to figure out when to drop that,” Wallen said coyly from the stage.

Spoiler alert: he just figured it out.

Just days later, Wallen confirmed the remix on Instagram Stories with a simple announcement, saying, “Miami ft. Lil Wayne and Rick Ross releasing 7/25.”

It’s bold. It’s unexpected. And it’s not Wallen’s first rodeo when it comes to breaking boundaries. Earlier this year, he dropped a No. 1 collab with Tate McRae for “What I Want” and reunited with Post Malone for two genre-blending singles, including “I Had Some Help.” But this remix? This might be the wildest pairing yet.

The Problem Tour? More Like the No Skips Tour

Wallen’s “I’m the Problem Tour” is already one of the biggest country tours of the year, selling out stadiums coast to coast. After back-to-back shows in Glendale, Arizona, where he also teased the remix, he’s set to hit Seattle, with openers including Ella Langley, Anne Wilson, Miranda Lambert, and the legends Brooks & Dunn.

Since the tour kicked off, Wallen’s proven night after night why he’s not just country’s biggest name; he’s one of music’s biggest names, period. The setlist is stacked with bangers from “Dangerous” and “One Thing at a Time,” but it’s the “I’m the Problem” tracks that fans are clamoring for.

And let’s talk numbers. “I’m the Problem” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and stayed there for eight straight weeks. Wallen managed to do what very few can. Which is to maintain deep country roots while climbing every mainstream chart imaginable.

As for “Miami,” love it or hate it, this remix puts a clear stamp on where Wallen is heading, which is pretty much everywhere. It’s a trap. It’s twang. And somehow, it works.

But Don’t Worry, Morgan Wallen Has More!

Speaking with Theo Von, he originally mentioned wanting to drop “Miami” with Texas rapper BigXthaPlug, but the verse didn’t come through in time. So, could there be another remix down the line?

And let’s not forget that mysterious snippet of an extended “Interlude” fans keep begging for. Yes, one that may or may not involve Drake. Personally, we are looking forward to that one, and need it ASAP. But Wallen hasn’t confirmed it (yet). He has teased that he’s “paying attention” to what fans want, though. So, that’s a good sign.

While the new “Miami” remix might be the most unlikely crossover of 2025, something tells us it won’t be the last. Country, rap, indie, pop, Wallen’s not choosing a lane.

He’s building a whole freeway.
