Dolly Parton Announces Third Children’s Book Alongside New Original Song

Get ready to groove! Country icon Dolly Parton is returning to the world of children’s books. This time around, with the third installment of her charming picture book series, “Billy the Kid.” Hitting shelves on December 2, 2025, just in time for Christmas, “Billy the Kid Dances His Heart Out” swaps country tunes for toe-tapping moves!

Co-written with children’s author Erica S. Perl and illustrated by MacKenzie Haley, the book promises an energetic, heartwarming tale for young readers and for those who are Parton fans. Billy, who first stole hearts with his big stage dreams, now slips on his dancing shoes. Of course, it wouldn’t be Parton without a little musical magic. So, to make it extra special, the book will also feature an original song by Parton called “Bella.” It was also announced that Parton will also release an audiobook version narrated by the legend herself.

Through a press release, the “Jolene” singer spoke about her new venture, saying, “I am excited to introduce Bella into Billy’s life in our new book! Creating stories that are fun, real, and carry life lessons hopefully makes it meaningful for children and their parents to experience the joy of reading together.”

“Billy the Kid Dances His Heart Out” follows two successful titles in the series. “Billy the Kid Makes It Big,” where the plucky pup first steps into the spotlight, and 2024’s sequel, “Billy the Kid Comes Home for Christmas.” Both books captured young readers’ imaginations and have also earned the approval of grown-ups! The debut even made its way onto the New York Times bestseller list.
