Carly Pearce has updated fans about an unlucky injury that happened while she was eating dinner. She shared the story with fans in a TikTok post on August 9.

Holding her bandaged thumb up to the camera, a makeup-free Pearce prepared for her get-ready video. And she did it all with one hand (well, without the use of one thumb). “So I was getting ready to eat dinner after my show, and I went to open a bottle of ranch dressing that was a glass bottle,” she told the cameras while applying her makeup. “When I went to open the bottle of ranch, it snapped off and a piece of glass cut my thumb.”

The “Every Little Thing” singer saw the blood on her hand but figured it was “ketchup.” It wasn’t! “We had a few paramedics on-site at the show, so we decided just to have a look at it, and they told me I needed a few stitches,” she said. The cut was so deep that she had to go to the hospital and get stitches and an X-ray.

“What I didn’t know was that the ride to the ER would be in an ambulance, and it’s policy that the patient has to sit on the stretcher and be strapped in,” Pearce said. “Now I am so grateful that it was not worse, and that obviously I am going to be fine in like a week, but it is interesting trying to figure out how to do these normal things, like pull your pants up after you pee.”

Her final thoughts were a warning to fans to be careful when they’re opening things to avoid an unpleasant accident like hers.

The final result of her makeup is gorgeous, and even with a bandaged thumb, Pearce did a wonderful job! She also shared her story with humor, playfully captioning the post with, “brb avoiding all ranch!! #grwm #countrymusic #countrysinger.”
