Brooks & Dunn Singer Raises Health Concerns with Stage Exit

Ronnie Dunn of the iconic country duo Brooks & Dunn is raising health concerns after walking off the stage near the end of a concert in Indianapolis, Indiana April 3.

The 71-year-old was at the mic performing an encore of the band’s 1991 megahit, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” when he stopped singing and told the audience, “sing it if you know it.”

Dunn then gestured to a bandmate with a cutting motion across his chest while shaking his head. He then went to the front of the stage and pointed to the audience, patting his chest and waving before walking off stage.

Radio host Matt Malone caught the whole thing on video, which he posted on TikTok with the caption, “Feel better, Ronnie!!! Thanks for giving us all you could!!”

Another fan’s TikTok video showed Dunn sitting down on stage risers during the concert. “Anyone know what’s going on?! Hoping a quick bug, and he’s back on stage tomorrow!” the caption read.

Dunn was back on stage the next night in Peoria, Illinois, according to “Taste of Country.”

Ronnie Dunn Has Been Open About Recent Health Struggles

The duo made no mention of the incident in their Instagram post referencing the tour stop. The post shows a series of concert pics and behind-the-scenes photos with the caption, “The NEON MOON shines bright over Indy, Peoria and Chicago this weekend. Stay safe! Stay dry! -Ronnie & Kix”

But in March, Ronnie Dunn was open about battling strep throat and COVID. During his March 22 show at NRG Stadium in Houston, he told the audience, “We call it strovid… If you hear the wrong notes tonight, we’ll blame it on that. Any other time it’s just me,” according to the Houston Press.

And in a March 19 Instagram post, Dunn wrote, “Had to fight through the last two shows (the flu and strep aren’t a singer’s friend…) Crowds have been terrific and thanks to the best band and crew in the business we’ve powered through it…Spending a couple of days to recoup in Austin before circling back through Lubbock and on to @rodeohouston.

They’re also set to headline the “Hoofbeat Country Fest” in Cadott, Wisconsin June 26.

Then they’ll join Morgan Wallen on his “I’m the Problem” tour, weaving six stops in with Wallen while continuing their “Neon Moon” tour through early October.
