Jack Quaid Lets It Slip That He May Also Be Returning in ‘Scream 7’

As the “Scream 7” cast keeps growing, so does the number of former Ghostface killers. First we got the news that Scott Foley from “Scream 3” was returning. Then, Matthew Lilliard, one of the OG Ghostface killers, announced he was returning, and industry insider DanielRPK claimed Skeet Ulrich is, too. And just when we thought it couldn’t get any wilder, an ET reporter asked Jack Quaid if he’s coming back. “Oh my God, I don’t know for sure yet, uh, I don’t know. I’ll keep my mouth closed on that one,” he replied.

Fans Have Theories on How All of These Characters Return

Stu Macher (Lilliard), Billy Loomis (Ulrich), Roman Bridger (Foley), Richie Kirsch (Quaid), and Dewey Riley (David Arquette) all have one thing in common: they’ve all played characters who have died in the “Scream” film franchise. Stu and Billy have the honor of being the original Ghostface killers, while Roman was Ghostface for “Scream 2,” and Richie one of two Ghostface killers in 2022’s “Scream” (Scream 5). While the natural response is to assume their deaths were faked, something Foley said has us thinking otherwise.

“You know, look, he’s dead. I died. They shot me in the head,” Foley told Collider. So of course, when “Scream” writer and director of the next installment told Foley he wanted him in the next movie, Foley’s response was expected. “‘What could I possibly be doing?!’ And he explained it to me, and I thought, ‘Oh! Okay. That makes sense.’ There is a world where you will not have to suspend disbelief. How about that?”

One prevailing theory gaining steam on Reddit is that all the characters are AI-generated videos, or Deepfakes. In this way, the Ghostface killer in “Scream 7” could taunt and distract Sydney. Another idea floating around is that we will get flashbacks, and find out everyone involved in the original murders. While everyone agrees they love the ‘idea’ of these characters being alive, most don’t think it would make a very convincing story.

Quaid Gave a Sweet Shoutout to Another Ghostface Killer

Along with almost spilling the beans about “Scream 7,” Quaid also had time to talk about his “Scream” costar, Mikey Madison. She played his girlfriend and fellow Ghostface killer, Amber Freeman, in the film.

“We’ve got a Ghostface Oscar winner! It’s so cool!” Quaid raved to ET. “When Mikey got called up I was cheering, man, I was so, so happy for her,” he continued. “It’s always so weird when you say that you’re proud of someone because I don’t know if that sounds condescending or not, but I am very proud of her. She’s just such an amazing talent and deserves all of this, and that was so clear from the moment I met her.”
