Broadway’s biggest night just delivered one of its most memorable wins — Sarah Snook has taken home the Best Leading Actress in a Play at the 2025 Tony Awards for her role in “The Picture of Dorian Gray“.

Apart from her first Tony, Sarah had also won the Olivier Award for the West End production in 2024.

Snook, best known for her Emmy-winning role as Shiv Roy in HBO’s “Succession”, made her Broadway debut playing all 26 characters in a bold, high-tech solo production of Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray.

This marks her first Tony win and follows her Olivier Award victory for the same role in “London’s West End” earlier this year.
Dave Lawson Joins Wife Sara Snook At The Tony Awards Red Carpet
Sarah Snook made a stylish entrance at the 2025 Tony Awards on Sunday, June 8, at Radio City Music Hall in NYC.

The Succession star, 37, was joined by husband Dave Lawson, and according to her own Instagram, the couple were the last to walk the red carpet.
“Last on the carpet! #tonys,” Snook captioned a few cute selfies of them together before the big night kicked off.
Playing 26 Roles: Sarah Snook’s Broadway Breakthrough
Snook’s performance in “The Picture of Dorian Gray” was more than just a debut — it was a masterclass in acting.

She seamlessly juggled 26 roles in a visually striking production that blended live acting with pre-recorded video, giving the illusion of Snook interacting with herself onstage. Apart from portraying 26 characters, Sarah also had to memorize 60,000 lines and spend nearly two hours alone onstage.

The adaptation, directed by Kip Williams, originally premiered at the Sydney Theatre Company before moving to London in 2024. The Broadway version officially opened at the Music Box Theatre on March 27.
A Big Night for ‘Dorian Gray’
Snook’s win was one of two for The Picture of Dorian Gray on Tony night — the show also took home a costume design award for Marg Horwell. The production was tied with Purpose as one of the most Tony-nominated plays of the season, scoring six nods in total.
The stage show’s unique format also relied heavily on a team of camera operators, who helped bring Williams’ hybrid vision to life. Behind the scenes, a powerhouse crew — from lighting designer Nick Schlieper to video designer David Bergman — worked in sync to create a cinematic experience live on stage.
Cate Blanchett Is Backing Screen Version of Snook’s ‘Dorian Gray’
Snook’s remarkable one-woman performance could soon reach even more audiences. According to Deadline, Cate Blanchett’s Dirty Films has picked up the rights to adapt the play for the screen. Meanwhile, Kip Williams is already working on his next stage-to-screen-style project — a reimagining of Dracula set for London’s West End, with tonight’s Tony host Cynthia Erivo in the lead.
Sarah Snook’s Tony Win Cements Her Theater Cred
While Sarah Snook has long been a critical darling on television, her Tony win confirms she’s a force to be reckoned with in theater, too.

Whether it’s playing a media mogul’s daughter or transforming into 26 wildly different personas live on stage, Snook’s talent is as versatile as it is undeniable — and now it’s officially Tony Award-winning.
