Broadway’s biggest night is set for Sunday, June 8, with the 78th annual Tony Awards celebrating the best of theater. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that The Tonys are Broadway’s Oscars—celebrating the standout shows, stars, and creative minds lighting up New York’s theater scene.

Every year, the Broadway League and the American Theater Wing team up to honor productions staged in 41 official Broadway theaters. According to the official Tony website, there are 26 major award categories, as well as several special honors for lifetime achievement and significant contributions to the arts.

When and Where to Watch the Tony Awards
The main Tony Awards show will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 8, from 8 to 11 p.m. ET. It will be broadcast on CBS and stream on Paramount+, but only for subscribers with the SHOWTIME plan.

How Long Is the 2025 Tony Awards Ceremony?
The 78th annual Tony Awards will run for three hours, from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 8, according to Deadline. The whole show, airing live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime, will include performances, award presentations, and special appearances throughout the evening.

The preshow starts at 6:40 p.m. ET and will be streamed for free on Pluto TV under the Live Music channel in the Entertainment section. It’s hosted by Darren Criss and Renée Elise Goldsberry, who are also Tony veterans themselves.
Who’s Hosting This Year?
This year’s Tony Awards will be hosted by Cynthia Erivo—an Emmy, Grammy, and Tony winner—taking over after Ariana DeBose’s three-year hosting streak. DeBose returns this year as a presenter.
Red carpet coverage kicks off at 4:00 p.m. ET on the Tony Awards’ official YouTube channel. Tune in live for early fashion moments and celebrity arrivals at Radio City Music Hall.
A total of 29 shows are nominated this year. Leading the nominations with 10 each: “Buena Vista Social Club”, “Death Becomes Her”, and “Maybe Happy Ending“. All three will also perform during the ceremony.
The original Hamilton cast will reunite for a one-night-only anniversary performance. Confirmed appearances include Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, and Jonathan Groff—plus many more fan favorites.
