The 78th annual Tony Awards have wrapped, and one of the biggest winners at the ceremony was Darren Criss. When Criss took to the stage to collect his Tony Award win, which Ariana DeBose presented, he delivered a beautiful speech. “What a night!” he told the audience. “I have such immense pride to get to be part of this notably diverse and exquisite Broadway season this year.”

He discussed the other nominees in the category. They were, Andrew Durand for his performance in “Dead Outlaw,” Tom Francis for “Sunset Blvd.,” Jonathan Groff for “Just in Time,” James Monroe Iglehart for “A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical,” and Jeremy Jordan for his performance in “Floyd Collins.”

Criss also used his time on stage to celebrate his co-star Helen J. Shen, but the person he wanted to credit most for letting this moment happen was his wife, Mia Swier, who accompanied him to the award show. “The real hero of this remarkable journey is my wife Mia, who took a massive swing in allowing me to do this and allow this crazy upheaval that it took to make this logistically possible, and for bearing the brunt of raising two tiny friends under three so that I could raise a singing robot,” he said. “You are the very pedestal that upholds the shiny spinny bit in our lives.”

Darren Criss’s Involvement in the Tony Awards 2025

Criss was heavily involved in making the Tony Awards 2025 a success. He also hosted “The Tony Awards: Act One” from 6:40 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET, alongside co-host Renée Elise Goldsberry. He was also one of the best-dressed stars, wearing an outfit designed by Christian Siriano.

Siriano celebrated Criss’s win with a post on Instagram. “My beautiful friend WON best actor tonight, and it was an honor creating this chic look for him! Love you @darrencriss #thetonyawards,” he captioned two photos of Criss.

The “Project Runway” alum was responsible for several looks for the evening, including Julianne Hough’s stunning white trumpet silhouette gown and Jean Smart’s outfit. She wowed in a chic black dress.
