Tom Sandoval Pokes Fun at Simon Cowell’s Buzzer After ‘America’s Got Talent’ Elimination

Tom Sandoval is still being haunted by Simon Cowell’s “America’s Got Talent” buzzer.

Hours after his band, Tom Sandoval and the Most Extras, were eliminated from the NBC talent competition, the former “Vanderpump Rules” star posted a video to his Instagram story. In the clip, Sandoval sat at a restaurant table with a group of friends who were covering their ears with their hands as a loud buzzer went off.

“It’s Simon’s buzzer,” Sandoval said in the video posted on Aug. 20. “It haunts me.”

“Okay, Simon,  we get it. We get it dude,” the Bravo alum added.

On Aug. 20, Sandoval found out that his band didn’t get enough votes to continue on in the competition after performing a version of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” in the quarter-finals.

Tom Sandoval Said He Had Technical Issues During the Performance

Sandoval was so engrossed in his performance of “Blinding Lights” that he didn’t realize that judge Simon Cowell leaned on his buzzer—heavily—midway through it.

“I like Tom, and I like the band, however, you’re judging this performance. It didn’t sound great, it didn’t,” Cowell said after the performance. “It might just be from where I sat, but that did not sound good, I’m afraid.”

But he added, “However, not everyone comes on this show to get a record deal. Sometimes, it’s about being true to who you are.”

In an interview after the show, Sandoval told Access Hollywood, “There [were] a few technical issues. Overall, I got through it as much as I could.”

Sandoval added, “I didn’t even know Simon buzzed us.”

“I definitely could have been better,” he admitted. “I was worried a little bit more about the movement and whatever, and with the inner-ear, I should have focused a little bit more on the vocals. …It’s a competition. We’re trying to set ourselves apart, so going out there and just singing versus singing, dancing, getting the crowd going, moving around. I was trying to do more.”

Tom Sandoval Was Happy To Do ‘AGT’

Even though his run on “AGT” was cut short, Sandoval said he had no regrets about comepeting on the show.

“I’m just happy to be there,” he told Us Weekly. “I feel so lucky to just be there, to be among such great acts and such great talent. Anything after this in all honesty is just a bonus.”

Fans will see Sandoval next on “House of Villains” Season 3.

“I’m hearing such good things from production and people around that [show] that it’s gonna be an amazing season — maybe the best season yet,” the VPR veteran teased of his next reality show.
