Teddi Mellencamp and Shep Rose both grew up in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and were childhood friends.
So, it made sense that the “Southern Charm” star would want to show his support for Mellencamp, visiting her after the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” personality returned home from the hospital following her brain surgery.
“In case you all didn’t know my hometown friend @teddimellencamp recently had several tumors removed from her brain 🧠. There’s still lots to battle but we decided to meet up if she was up for it. We met in Encino, a magical village in the valley,” Rose posted on Instagram on March 17.
“As soon as i saw teddi and gave her a hug we argued about where to sit. She then rather bluntly announced ‘i almost died and i still might – make a decision for once Shepard.’ We then proceeded to just laugh. We love dark humor and Teddi is the queen of it. So we ordered a loaf of bread (with oil and balsamic vinaigrette for dipping) and chicken parm pasta, he continued. “More laughs than anything. She has a keen interest and derives much pleasure in my misadventures . Which i think means that she loves me. 😊 🥰”
Mellencamp had a humorous response to the post.
“Thankfully we were never romantically involved. I don’t think I could pull off a shark tooth necklace,” she wrote.
She also posted the photo on her Instagram story, saying that “teasing @relationshep was the perfect pre-first radiation thing I could think of.”

Teddi Mellencamp Reveals New Scans Show Cancer Has Spread
Mellencamp underwent brain surgery to have four tumors removed, and afterward, she had more scans done. However, she didn’t receive the news that she was hoping for, with the scans revealing that the cancer had spread.
“Update from my scans today: I have multiple tumors in my brain that weren’t able to be removed via surgery. I also have 2 tumors in my lung. These are all metastases of my melanoma,” Mellencamp wrote in her March 6 post. “The doctors are hopeful that immunotherapy and radiation will effectively treat them.
“I am feeling positive— that I will win this battle, that I got this wig (I like the short hair, just not the bald spots), and that I can remember all of Angelina’s kids’ names,” Mellencamp continued. “Now, as @bravoandy would say: with all due… (explective) off, cancer!”
Mellencamp first revealed she was diagnosed with several brain tumors in a February 12 Instagram post.
