Bravo Star Says His Estranged Wife is ‘an Amazing Person’ & ‘a Great Mother’

The Valley” star Jax Taylor is discussing his relationship with his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright, the mother of his 3-year-old son, Cruz.

In the March 4 episode of “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast, Taylor discussed his dynamic with Cartwright, who filed for divorce in August 2024. According to Taylor, their relationship changes “daily.” He said that Cartwright is not always happy with him.

“It’s going day by day right now. It’s going to take a lot of time,” said Taylor during the interview.

Taylor also said that he changed his behavior to be a better co-parent for Cartwright. He said that he has been sober for 83 days after having substance abuse issues for over two decades.

“I just want her to know that I’m really really trying. I’m doing everything she’s asked. The rehab, the therapy, the drug-testing, the getting help. I take care of my son as much as she allows me to,” said Taylor.

He went on to say he “respect[s]” his estranged wife and “want[s] to make her happy.” In addition, he said he wants to be present in Cruz’s life and “be in [her] life to some extent.” Taylor also said Cartwright “can always call [him] for anything,” despite their on-going issues.

“I just want her to know that I do love her. I think she’s an amazing person, I think she’s a great mother. I just think our time is up. I will always be there for her. No matter what,” said Taylor while recording the podcast episode.

He also said while their marriage needed to end, they “had a great 10 years together.”

Jax Taylor Opened up About Being Sober

During the “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast episode, Taylor said that he is “an addict, primarily with cocaine.” He said that he also suffers from “anger issues” and had not been properly medicated for his Bipolar II disorder.

According to Taylor, he went to rehab twice following his January 2024 separation from Cartwright.

After the podcast episode was released, Cartwright shared a statement to People magazine. In the March 4 statement, Cartwright said that she is “glad that he finally admitted to what was really going on.”

“For the first time, I can speak openly about the extent of trauma he’s instilled on our family over the years. I’ve tried desperately to help him without success. I pray that one day he completely knocks this addiction, but I’m skeptical. His behaviors are still alarming and his treatment plan seems to be the bare minimum,” said Cartwright in her statement.

She said that while “every day is still a challenge and very difficult,” she hopes “one day, he will be a better person for his son.”

Brittany Cartwright Spoke About Her Future in November 2024

In a November 2024 interview on “Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast, Cartwright shared she was not sure if she would get married again after her separation from Taylor.

“I would never have a huge wedding again. I don’t know if I would ever legally get married again,” said Cartwright during the interview.

She also said she “would definitely sign a prenup” if she were to get married again. In addition, she said she would consider having more children if she were in a loving relationship.

Cartwright also shared she would prefer to date someone who already has a child.

“I think I would like to be with someone who has a kid, so they understand what it’s like to be a parent. And they understand that Cruz is always going to come first,” said Cartwright.
