Denise Richards Reveals Why Her Reality Show Is Different This Time Around

Denise Richards shared why “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things” is a completely different experience than her 2008-2009 reality show, “It’s Complicated.”

“When I did my reality show, ‘It’s Complicated,’ it was a very difficult time in my life, going through a divorce. I just lost my mom, and I was going through the divorce, it was so public,” she told Paper in a March 11 interview, referring to her very public split from Charlie Sheen.

Richards continued, “I had a hard time actually getting acting jobs, because a lot of people in the industry thought I was trying to take down a huge TV actor, and I was very misunderstood with a lot of stuff, and it wasn’t easy.”

The “Starship Troopers” star told Paper that things are different this time around because her daughters Sami and Lola Sheen are much older. “My girls were so little then, that it was hard to imagine them being now 19 and 20 years old. I can’t believe Sam is turning 21,” Richards said. “And back then I didn’t have Eloise and I wasn’t remarried,” she added.

Richards also compared starring in her own Bravo show with her seasons on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

“There is a lot of arguing on the ‘Real Housewives,’ but they’re silly arguments. There is also a lot of showing the women being silly and having fun,” she said in the interview. Richards shared that in “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things,” her arguments are with her daughters instead.

She said, “There were times, trust me, I was like, oh gosh, dealing with my kids fighting, it might be easier dealing with the women, because it’s silly.”

Richards Wants Fans To Get To Know Her Daughters

Richards opened up about having her daughters Sami, Lola, and Eloise in “Denise Richards & Her Wild Things” on Kyle Meredith’s March 5 podcast episode.

“They’ve lived in the shadow of their parents their whole life, and them now coming of age and coming into their own, it’s an opportunity for them too to be able to be their own person and have people know them for who they are,” she told the host.

Richards shared how different Sami and Lola’s personalities were despite being so close in age, but added, “They’re also similar more than they think they are. They don’t believe me, but they are.”

Richards Shares How Her Husband Aaron Phypers Feels About Her New Show

“RHOBH” fans first met Richards’ husband, Aaron Phypers, in season 9 and in an interview with Vulture on March 4, the former Bond girl revealed he wasn’t so happy during their second season.

“He felt bad for me the second season, where my friendship with Lisa Rinna went and how some of the women are,” Richards said. “I went a different way the second season, but for the most part really enjoyed doing the show and I made some friends.”

Richards continued, “And in this situation he was very supportive and he also liked the idea of it being about our family.”
