Andy Cohen Shares ‘Sweet’ Side of ‘Southern Charm’ Star After Beach Day in the Hamptons

Andy Cohen spent an unexpected day with “Southern Charm” star Shep Rose—in an unexpected place. In August 2025, the Bravo TV personalities hung out together in Cohen’s summertime happy place, the Long Island seaside resort, the Hamptons.

The “Watch What Happens Live” host opened up on his radio show, SiriusXM’s “Andy Cohen Live,” to reveal that the South Carolina businessman showed up at the beach near his Hamptons home and spent time with his kids.

Andy Cohen Said He Saw a Side of Shep Rose That Warmed His Heart

Speaking on “Andy Cohen Live,” Cohen revealed how the impromptu beach day came to be.

“Shep had been texting me saying, oh, he is in the Hamptons, he’s gonna be around, and so he showed up on my beach,” Cohen told his co-host John Hill. “I gotta tell you something. You can tell the measure of a person by how they are with your kids.”

Cohen explained that Rose was so sweet with his children, Ben, 6, and Lucy, 3.

“He came with a buddy of his with some fishing rods to go fly fishing in the ocean, and he walked on the beach and you know, Shep, I’ve always characterized as like a golden retriever, but he walked on the beach and Ben immediately ran over to him because he saw the fishing rod and he’s like, ‘Are you going fishing?’ and Shep’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ll teach you how to do it. Come here,’” Cohen recalled. “He spent a really good amount of time with Ben trying to teach him how to fish, and so did his friend, then he let Ben bury him in the sand. I mean, and I was like, ‘You know what?’ It touched my heart. I was like, ‘This is very sweet.’”

Rose posted photos from the day on his Instagram page, including a shot of the beach burial, and wrote, “Good times visiting friends and family in The Hamptons over the weekend. Perfect weather. …grateful for it all. Even let little Ben try to bury me in the sand. But it was at least a 2-3 person job.”

Rose, 44, has experienced some commitment issues in the past and is still single several years after splitting from his ex, Taylor Ann Green. He has been open about how he has worked to better himself and even talked about settling down when he was dating his former girlfriend, Sienna Evans. He has also talked about using dating apps to meet women.

But on his radio show, Cohen revealed that Rose came up as a match on his Raya account when he was in the Hamptons.

“No one on my beach watches ‘Southern Charm’ or knew who Shep was,” Cohen said. “My friend, Fred …was like, ‘So, does Shep have a boyfriend?’ I go, ‘Shep is one of the great womanizers on Bravo. He is not gay.’…Although Shep came up on my Raya when he was out here,” Cohen cracked. “I was like, ‘Shep, you came up on,’ he goes, ‘I gotta check my settings.’”

After Hill joked, “Maybe this is the summer he comes out,” Cohen shut the talk down. “No, Shep is not,” the Bravo host said.
